You Are Special.- 2.

Post 510 ~~ Thursday 18th September, 2008.

Hello Everyone ~~ I like this picture that was on a Christmas card a few years ago. I had it as my desk-
top for quiye a while. However it will not move down lower for me to type above it.

I hope you are all enjoying your lives and that Ike has
gone with no more in sight. I had a couple of days not feeling great but managed to get some cooking done with a fair amount of effort.

The first item tonight is called "You are Special" and I hope you enjoy it.

In all the world there is nobody like you. Since the beginning of time there has never been another person like you. Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hands, your hair. Nobody owns your handwriting or your voice.

You're Special/ Nobody can paint your brush strokes. Nobody has your taste for food or music or dance or art. Nobody in the universe sees things as you do.

You're Special. In all time there has never been anyone laughs exactly your way. You're different from any other person who has ever lived in the history of the universe. You are the only one in the whole of creation who has your particular set of abilities.

Nobody in the universe can reach the quality of the combination of your talents, your feelings. Through all eternity no one will ever walk, talk, think or do exactly like you. You're special.

You're rare and in all rarity there is enormous value and because of your great value the need for you to imitate anyone else is absolutely wrong.

You're special, and it is no accident you are. Please realize that God made you for a special purpose. He has a job for you to do that nobody else can do as well as you can. Out of the billions of applicants, only one qualified. Only one has the unique and right combination of what it takes and that one is You.
You're Special.

Time for jokes ~ ~ First one from my friend Linda May . G'Day Linda, Thank you.

Women over 50 don't have babies because they would put them down and forget where they left them.

A friend of mine confused her Valium with her Birth Control pills . . .she has 14 kids but doesn't
really care.

One of life's mysteries is how a 2 pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs?

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

The nice thing about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you're doing,
someone else does.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat
are really good friends.

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes.

Skinny people irritate me. Especially when they say things like . . ."You know sometimes
I forget to eat !

Now I have forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never
forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat.

The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then marry him.

I read this article that said the typical symptoms are earing too much, impulse buying, and
driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day.

Some from the local paper - - Comments Made in 1957 - - -

I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy
a week's groceries for $20.

Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $5000 will only
buy a used car.

Kids today are impossible. Those ducktail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next
thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as girls.

I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since Clark Gable got by with saying
'damn' in Gone with the Wind, it seems every new movie has either "hell" or "Damn" in it.

If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.

I never thought I'd see the day when all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even
making electric typewriters.

The drive in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.

I read the other day where some scientist think it is possible to put a man on the moon by the end
of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it dowm in Texas.
<><>

Thoughts for Today. 0 also from the paper.

1. Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car.

2. There's always a lot to be thankful for. For example 0 I am sitting here thinking how nice it is
that wrinkles don't hurt.

3. If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

4. A penny saved is a government oversight.

5. The easiest way to find something around the house is to buy a replacement.

6. He who hesitates is probably right.

7. If you think there is good in everybody, you haven't met everybody.

8. If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

Two men were captured and were to be killed by firing squad. The rebel leader kicked one
of the captured men and said. "You are first to be shot, Do you have any last requests?"

"Yes," said the man, :I love rap music. Can you play some of the CDs you took from my bag. over
the loud speaker system."

The rebel leader replied, We can do that. In fsct, I quite like rap music myself. Maybe we can
play two or three tracks.

The second capture man then said, "Please, If you are going to do that, then my last request is
to be shot first."
<><>

You've only got to look at popular sayings to know that it's true that women are more intelligent
than men. For example - "Diamonds are girl's best friend" but "A man's best friend is his dog."

Well I will have to close tonight as I am too tired. I did the first bit and posted it to see if it would
go OK and then I should have deleted it, but didn't, so a few jokes added and a pretty poor effort.
I will try to do better. I have had to retype the jokes. Take care my friends, and bear with me.
Love and Best Wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

You know, Merle, sometimes it is very difficult to convince some folks that they are special. I have found that too true as both a social worker and a minister.

Dear Merle,
Love the flowers at the top of your page.

Will have to check out how you did that Follow This Blog thingy.

Really like the post for today. I know there are so many times when I don't feel all that special.

Have a great day.
Love, Patty

These were great, Merle. The one about being special was nice, but I can't help thinking about a saying I use to keep myself in check sometimes - "You are special, just like everybody else!" It always makes me laugh at myself if I start feeling a little TOO special! I couldn't figure out to join your blog followers list.

P. S. I really, really hope you begin to feel much better soon!

Hi Merle, That is a nice picture. When I was ill a few years ago I used to watch this guy on the TV called Bob Ross painting these pictures and that picture of yours reminded me of the ones he used to paint. Bob.

Hi Merle,
So sorry you haven't been feeling well. It's hard to get much done and I know it feels like an effort.
Loved the jokes, and the reminder that we are all special is an important one.
Take care of yourself and I hope you're feeling better soon!
Love and ((hugs))

Hello Merle. Sorry to hear that you have not been well. Hope you get better soon. Love your post. I really missed visiting everybody's blogs while my internet was on strike! Using the computer at the library just doesn't give enough time to do anything and you can't download any pictures :(. Hopefully it will stay intact for a good while until I can afford a new computer. Hope to see you visit soon.
Take Care
Lisa

Hi Merle
The new blog looks beautiful - mine could do with a new look, but I have no idea how to do that! Thanks for the jokes - funny as always!

Hi Merle,

You always put a smile on my face with your jokes. You are something special and I hope you are feeling much better and are recovering from what ever malady you had.

I like your new picture of the flowers. It is just lovely. Is it from one of your gardens.

Have a nice week-end.

What a restful Christmas card. So far less vulgar than most of the usual cliche'd tat!

It must be odd celebrating a festival associated with staying in and gorging on sugary carbs while it supposedly snows in the subtropics..!

I'll never forget how grating it was to return to our chalet in Goa, India on Dec 24 to find the neighbours had put up the tattiest gaudiest decorations they could find. I just wanted to hang myself from a palm tree when I saw those!

Hello Merle. I love your pretty banner. Looks like African Daisy's.
Also your picture is wonderful. Just imagine that was on a Christmas Card. I think I'd frame it.
I hope you're feeling better. I've been a bit under the weather myself. Lord heal us!!
I really enjoyed reading, 'You Are Special. In fact, I copied and sent it to a lot of my contacts.
Hope you have a blessed week end dear,
Love you
