"God's Wife" & Awards.

Post 559 ~ ~ ~ Saturday, 17th January, 2009.

Hello Everyone ~~ I hope all is well with you. I am doing fine and got good results from the Ultra Sound I had a week ago. All good news, so I am very thankful for that. We have
another very hot day predicted for Monday 39 C which is just over 102 F. I hope it will not get hotter than that, but at least I should be ready with the cooler this time. I have
been putting off this first award because I had to write 10 Honest things about myself.
I am honest, but was a bit stumped. The result follows.

The first award is called the Honest Scrap Award, and was given to me by two friends - -

Rhi and Christina. I thank you both very much and these are the rules

List 10 honest things about myself

Post the award on your post and blog

Put a link to the person/persons who you received the award from.

Nominate at least 7 blogs which show "honest scrapness"
Be sure to link to your nominees in your post.

Let them know they have received this award by commenting on their blogs.

My 10 honest things about myself :

!. I am 74 years old, reasonably healthy and content with my life.

2. I had breast cancer 30 years ago and have been very fortunate not to have it return
and since then I worry less about the "small stuff."

3. I have 4 wonderful children, three of whom are adopted and I love them all equally and
dearly. They take good care of me, now as I am older and more frail.

4. I have 12 wonderful grandchildren, 8 girls and 4 boys, from ages 10 to 31 and love
them all dearly. We keep in touch through e mails and phone calls etc.

5. I also have 3 lovely great granddaughters, who all live too far away to see them often but e mail
and photos keep them close. They are aged 9, 5, and 3 months.

6. I enjoy blogging and have made some wonderful friends and we have a close friendship although
most of us will never meet.

7. I love my garden, but cannot do very much in it anymore, but my sons come to my rescue.

8. I have always been a late night person and 2 am still happens more often than it should. I try
to retire about midnight these days, but don't always make it.

9. I love and appreciate my family, my friends and blogging friends more, the older I get.

10. I am happier now than in my earlier years. CONTENT is a good word for me.

My story tonight and the first joke, came from my friend Linda L, Thank you Linda.

"God's Wife."
An eye witness account from New York City, on a cold December day some years ago. A little boy, about 10 years old, was standing before a shoe store on the
roadway, bare-footed, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said, "My. but you're in such deep thought staring in that window."
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boy's reply.

The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He brought them to her quickly.

She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.

By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she
purchased him a pair of shoes.

She tied the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, "No doubt you will be more comfortable now."

As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her, "Are you God's Wife ?"

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think of little Jamie Scott.

Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.

On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. "Guess what, Mom," he shouted
and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me . . . ."I've been chosen to clap and cheer."
<><>

My friend Margaret sent me this next one. Thank you so much Margaret.
GOTTA LOVE LITTLE BOYS!!

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter. The man at the counter asked the older boy," Son how old
are you?" "Eight," the boy replied.

The man continued, "Do you know what these are used for?"

The boy replied, "Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swaim and ride a bike and right now, he
can't do either one."
<><>

A few short ones from my friends Sue and Bob. Thank you.

Japanese scientists have created a camera with a shutter speed so fast. They now can photograph a woman with her mouth shut.

A boy asked his granny, "Have you seen my pills, they were labelled LSD ?"
"Never mind the pills, have you seen the purple dragons in the kitchen?"

Little Billy asks his Dad for a telly in his room. Dad reluctantly agrees.
Next day Billy comes downstairs and asks, "Dad, what's love juice?"
Dad looks horrofied and tells Billy all about sex.
Billy just sat there with his mouth open in amazement.
Dad says, "So, what were you watching?"
Billy says, "Wimbledon."

A woman standing nude in front of a mirror, says to her husband, "I look horrible, I feel
fat and ugly, pay me a compliment."
He replies, "Your eyesight is perfect."

Wife gets naked and asks hubby, "What turns you on more, my pretty face or my sexy body?" Hubby looks her up and down and replies, "Your sense of humour."

The YEAR'S BEST (actual) HEADLINES :
Red Tape holds up New Bridge, You mean there is something stronger than duct tape?

Something went wrong in Jet crash. Expert says, "No, really?"

Police

Panda Mating Fails; Veterinarian Takes Over. What a guy.

Miners Refuse to work after Death. Those good for nothing lazy so and sos.

Juvenile Court to try shooting defendant. See if that works any better than a fair trial.

War dims hope for Peace. I can see where it might have that effect.

A very posh lady sitting in a Longreach pub suddenly began to cough. After a few seconds
it became apparent that she was in real distress, and two locals, Bluey and Bazza sitting at the next table turned to look at her.

"Ken you swallow?" asked Bluey. The woman signalled "No" by shaking her head.
"Ken you breathe?" asked Bazza. The woman shook her head, "No."

With that Bluey walked behind her, lifted up the back of her dress, yanked down her knickers and run his tongue down the crack of her butt.

This shocked the woman into such a violent spasm that the obstruction flew out of her mouth and she began to breathe again.

Bluey swaggered back to his table and took a deep swig of his beer.
Bazza said in admiration, "Ya know, Bluey, I'd heard of that bloody Hind Link
Manoeuvre, but that's the first time I've ever seen somebody do it."
<><>
Time to say Goodnight my friends. Enjoy your lives and be kind to each other.
My love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Hello dear Merle:-)

You're sweltering over there and we're freezing over here! lol It's actually "milder" here today...-17c! It's much better than the -38c we were getting for a few days. Sheesh!

Such wonderful news that you got good results from your ultra sound:-) Prayers that you continue to feel well!!

Congratulations on receiving those two awards, dear Merle! I so enjoyed reading the 10 things about you...you are indeed very blessed with a beautiful family and being "content" in life is pretty much the best thing there is:-)

Loved the stories and jokes...the one of the two little boys buying tampons had me in stitches! hehe Too cute!

Take good care, dear friend, and hope you are having a wonderful weekend. xoxo

hI Merle, thanks for posting your award - I enjoyed learning 10 things about you!!!

I can't believe how hot it is there, we are having some of the coldest weather here that we've had in quite some time. Low temps are in the 30's and low 40's and highs are only 60ish. That's cold for us.

I enjoyed your story and jokes as always.

take care,
Christina

Thanks for the award, I think I did it correctly. Hope you sleep well tonight. It was really, really cold here all day and night yesterday, right now it's about 21 degrees F which is warmer then -15 below, but not by much.

Hello, my dear friend!

So happy to hear that you got a good report from your ultrasound!!! I know you feel happy about it, too!

You are truly blessed to have such a wonderful family who loves you and cares about you. So nice that your sons help you with your garden. I don't do that much anymore at all. Right now I am suffering with bursitis in my left knee along with already having it in my left shoulder. It's jsut been a rought couple of weeks for me.

Thank you for the award! I'll make it my next post. I'll have to give some thought to the 10 things first.

You are in the oven there while the states are in the deep freeze! It's been quite cold for the South here where I live. We had 11 degrees fahrenheit a few nighta ago. We are to be abck in the 50s next week...we shall see! I just pity the poor little animals trying to survive outside in these cold temps. I see up North they've had -47 below zero fahrenheit! My, now that is cold!!!

Enjoy your day...it is Saturday here right now, 5:29pm. I am cleaning house today, very slowly! LOL

Love you!
Nancy

Be checking in on you!!

Kid buying tampons so they can ride bikes, etc. That's so funny but even though it's a joke it could happen as kids can take thing literally.

Glad the weather is cooler for you, so's ours, about 27 C today.

How happy you must be that your ultrasound is ok...good news, isn't it? I know what you mean by being content. It's how I feel, too and as I said to someone, it's taken me 64 years to get that way.

Hugs.

Glad to hear you Ultra Sound was good newa, I am happy for you on the awards, you deserve them, and I might ad ery funny post, I like the little boys shoes.

Hi Merle. I'm so glad to hear that your tests came back ok. That is quite a relief isn't it?
Thanks for nominating me for the award. I usually don't do these sort of things because I can never figure out how but it was sweet of you to think of me.

I love your jokes and am still smiling about "God's Wife." Isn't that just precious? We never know what a child thinks and that's one of the things that is so fascinating about them.

I sure wish we could exchange some of our temps. We are at freezing again with snow very low on the mountains. I would probably melt if it ever got to 102 here. That must be very uncomfortable.

I love my gardens too but like you I can't do as much as I used to. I have lots of pictures of my gardens though and I'm sure glad.

Take care Merle and keep cool!
Love you

Thank you, Merle, for that nice reward. I will do my best to fulfill it's terms. I don't know as many bloggers as you for the nominiations but I will try for that also. Some of my readers don't participate in the awards thing.

Please remind me now and then not to sit by Bluey and Bazza if I feel like choking!

Cheers,
..

Oh yes, thank you for sharing your Ultra Sound outcome. That is good news. I am not sure what it was for, could have been for your condition 30 years ago.

I get an ultrasound every year for my circulation. Also a abdominal ct scan with dye and a stress test with the ultra sounds. So far so good.

Dear Merle,

Congratulations on the 2 beautiful awards, and thank you so much for passing one of to me. How kind and thoughtful of you.

I enjoyed the 10 honest things you listed, and being content in life is a good thing! Good news on the test results, too!

God's Wife is a beautiful, touching story. Haha on the little boy trying to buy tampons! And the purple dragons in the kitchen. LOL. Little boy jokes are funny, and I bet the husband who told his wife her sense of humor is what turns him on the most, got a bop on his head! Haha. And the headlines really brought a good chuckle. Haha. And well...the hind link maneuver hahaha! Can't stop laughing, dear Merle.

Well, it's Sunday morning and I have to get ready for church soon. Things have warmed up considerable since our few days of bitter cold, thank goodness. Hope things cool off for you a bit. Have a wonderful week, dear friend. I will post the award early next week.

Love and blessings,

Renie

Merle ~ Thanks for checking in again and for your nice comments... it did remind me that I had not yet answered your earlier comment so... YES I did get Vista on my new PC, but I had heard it was a memory hog, so I made sure I got at least 4 Meg of Memory. There are lots of thing I like about the look and feel of Vista, but it is sure NOT intuitive to use. It took me a while to just figure out how to shut the darn thing off! But I guess this old dog can still learn a few tricks.
On your post here, I was interested in the tidbits about your life. And, there is certainly nothing wrong with being CONTENT! Until later. ~ jb///

Hi Merle, I'm glad to hear everything went or for you with the scan. I'm sure you are worth the award but I know what you mean about having to find all those things to say about yourself. Anyway have a nice day and stay cool! Bob.

Hi Merle,

Thank you for the award.

I'm sorry I got back to you so late but I've been kind of busy.

Our propane tank sprung a leak and released all our propane, and now we have nothing but an electric heater to heat our house with.

My hubby got someone to come out tomorrow and fix it and fill it. It'll cost us, but it's still winter here.

Thank goodness it been warm the last couple of days.
