Life is a Gift.

Post 123 - - - - - Thursday, 25th January, 2007.

G'day my Friends
~~ I hope all is well with you. Happy Australia Day to my fellow
Aussie bloggers. I had planned to post about it, but I have read some great posts, so
if anyone is interested my brother Peter , my friend Meow and my friend Lee all
have great posts about Australia Day. Also Miss Cellania from the US posted a great
article also. Thank you Miss Cellania - that was nice of you. ( see blog roll for hers).

It has been another pleasant day here and a few more are predicted, before the next
blast of heat arrives. I pulled a few weeds, but there are still too many there.
I caught up on reading the papers that I hadn't got round to in the last couple of days.

This article was sent by my friend Linda and is called "Life is a Gift,"

Today before you think of saying an unkind word - - -
Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - - -
Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - - -
Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - - -
Think of someone who went to Heaven too early.

Before you complain about your children - - -
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - - -
Think of people who are living on the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive - - -
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you're tired and complain about your job - - -
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - - -
Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to our Maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - - -
Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around !!

Life is a gift- - - Live it - - - Enjoy it - - - Celebrate it - - - AND Fulfill it !!

Teasing.

There was a little boy named Johnny who used to hang out at the local corner market. The owner didn't know what Johnny's problem was, but the boys would constantly tease him. They would always comment that he was two bricks shy of a load, or two pickles short of a barrel. To prove it, sometimes they would offer Johnny his choice between a nickel (5 cents) and a dime (10 cents) and John would always take the nickel -- they said because it was bigger.

One day after John grabbed the nickel, the store owner took him aside and said,
"Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. They think you don't know the dime is worth more than the nickel. Are you grabbing the nickel because it's bigger, or what?"

Slowly, Johnny turned to the store owner and a big grin appeared on his face and
Johnny said, "Well if I took the dime, they'd stop doing it, and so far I've saved $20."

One day while walking down the street a highly successful executive woman was
tragically hit by a bus and she died. Her soul arrived up in heaven where she was met
at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter.

"Welcome to Heaven," said St. Peter. "Before you get settled in though it seems we have a problem. You see, strangely enough, we've never had an executive make it this far, and we are not really sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," said the woman. "Well I'd like to, but I have higher
orders. What we're going to do is let you have a day in Hell ad a day in Heaven and
then you can choose whichever one you want to spend an eternity in."
"Actually, I think I have made up y mind I prefer to stay in Heaven, said the woman."

"Sorry, we have rules - - -" And with that St. Peter put the executive in an elevator
and it went down to Hell. The doors opened and she found herself stepping out on to
the putting green of a beautiful golf course. In the distace was a country club and
standing in front of her were all her friends and they were all dressed in fine evening
wear and cheering for her. They ran up and kissed her on both cheeks and they talked about old times. They played an excellent round of golf and at night went to the country club where she enjoyed an excellent steak and lobster dinner.

She met the Devil who was actually a really nice guy and she had a great time telling
jokes and dancing.
She was having such a good time that before she knew it, it was time to leave.
Everybody shook her hand and waved goodbye as she got in the elevator.
The elevator went back up to the Pearly Gates and found St. Peter. "Now it's time to spend a day in heaven," he said. So she spent the next 24 hours lounging around
on clouds and playing the harp and singing.

She had a great time and before she knew it her 24 hours were up and St. Peter came and got her. "So, you've spent a day in hell and you've spent a day in heaven. Now you must choose your eternity," he said. The woman paused for a second and then
replied, "Well, I never thought I'd say this, I mean Heaven has been really great and all, but I think I had a better time in Hell." So St. Peter escorted her to te elevator and again she went back to Hell.

When the doors of the elevator opened she found herself standing in a desolate wasteland covered in garbage and filth, She saw her friends were dressed in rags and were picking up garbage and putting it in sacks.

The Devil came up and put his arm around her. "I don't understand," the woman
stammered, "yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and a country club and we ate lobster and we danced and had a great time. Now all there is , is a wasteland
of garbage and all my friends look miserable."

The Devil looked at her and smiled. "Yesterday we were recruiting you. Today
you'r staff."

A man was just waking up from anaesthesia after surgery, and his wife was sitting by his side.
His eyes fluttered open and he said: "You're beautiful." Then he fell asleep again.
His wife had never heard him say that, so she stayed by his side.
A few minutes later, his eyes fluttered open and he said: "You're cute."

The wife was disappointed because instead of "beautiful" -it was now just "cute."
She asked : "What happened to beautiful?"
The man replied : "The drugs are wearing off !!"

Glad that you are having a pleasant day - and even pulling a few weeds. My doctor turned me loose for light duty today and I plan to get out in the yard tomorrow for some pruning that desperately needs doing before spring. It probably won't take long to wear me out though. ec
