Driving With Grandma.

Post 157 - - - - - Sunday, 4 th March, 2007.

Hi Everyone ~~ I hope you are all Ok and looking forward to the coming week. I am
OK and hava a small bag packed with all my medications and set for an overnight stay. They said I could probably come home tomorrow night, but as I am not going to the theatre till late afternoon. Beside they like someone to stay overnight after a General Anaesthetic, so I prefer to stay there until next morning when John will pick me up. They won't let me go home by taxi. So John will get me inside safely and get a few things at the shops for me, as Tuesday was to be my regular shopping day. Enough!! No, one last thing, I want to thank everyone who has wished me well etc. Very much appreciated. Many thanks. I hope to be back with you on Tuesday night.
Now that's enough!!
Tomorrow, 5th March is the birthday of my half brother who died at 15. He would have been 82 years old as he was 9 years older than me, and I am heading for 73.

Tonight's story was kindly sent to me by my dear friend Margaret so I hope you enjoy it. Thank you Margaret and for your e-mails

The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a bumper sticker that
said "Honk if you love Jesus."
I was feeling pretty sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir
performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and
put it on my bumper.

I was stopped at a red light intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is and I didn't notice that the light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that LOTS of people love Jesus. Why, while I was sitting there,
the guy behind started honking like crazy, and when he leaned out of his window and
screamed, "for the love of God, GO! GO!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was
for Jesus.

Everyone started honking! I just leaned out of my window and started waving and smiling at all these loving people.

I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love. There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. . . .

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. When I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, he said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.

Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back.

My grandson burst out laughing, why even he was enjoying this religious experience.

A couple of people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.

I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So I waved to all my brothers and sisters grinning, and drove through the intersection.

I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared, so I slowed the car down, leaned out of the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.

Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks.

I laughed as I typed that, so hope you found it enjoyable. Who needs jokes after that.

Charlie was a regular visitor at the racetrack. One afternoon he noticed an unusual
sight. Right before the first race, a Catholic priest visited one of the horses in the stable area and gave it a blessing. Charlie watched the horse race very carefully, and sure enough the blessed horse came in first !

Charlie followed the priest before
the next race, and again he performed a similar
procedure. Charlie played a hunch and put a couple of dollars on the blessed horse.
Sure enough the blessed horse came in by two lengths, and Charlie won $50 !

The priest continued the same procedure through the next few races, and Charlie won each time. He was now ahead by $1,000 so between races Charlie left the track
and went to the bank and withdrew his life's savings, $20,000.

The biggest race of the day was the last one. Charlie followed the priest and watched carefully which horse he blessed. He then went to the betting window and put his
whole $21,000 bundle of cash on that horse to win,

Then Charlie went out to watch the horses race. Down the stretch they came, and as they crossed the finish line, the horse Charlie's fortune was bet on was dead last.

Charlie was crushed. He located the priest and told him he had been watching him bless the horses all day, and they all became winners except the last horse on which
he had bet his life's savings. Charlie then asked, "What happened to the last horse you blessed? Why didn't he win like the others?"

"That's the trouble with you Protestants," sighed the priest. "You can never tell the
difference between a blessing and the last rites."

A Teenager Is . . . . .
. . .someone who can't remember to walk the dog each day but never forgets a phone
number he heard once.

. . .a weight watcher who goes on a diet by giving up candy bars before breakfast.

. . .someone who receives her allowance on Monday, spends it on Tuesday, and borrows it from her best friend on Wednesday.

. . .someone who can pick out the voice of a friend from 3 blocks away, but can't hear his mother calling from the next room.

. . .computer whiz who can operate any new gadget within seconds but can't make
the bed.

. . .a connoisseur of two types of fine music : loud and very loud.

. . .a person who can bike for miles but is usually too tired to help with the dishes.

. . . a romantic who never falls in love more than twice a week.

. . .your own reality show but with fewer commercials.

painfully funny at many times. At other times a teenager is just painful.

. . .someone who will pitch in and help clean every room in the house, as long as it's the neighbor's house.

Last one tonight, thanks to our friend Raggedy
Five tips for a woman . . . . .

1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a man you can count on and who doesn't lie to you.

4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.

5. It s important that these four men don't know each other.

Thank you Raggedy, the cool one !!

Loved the "Honk if you Love Jesus" one. I could just imagine it and it reminds of my mother, bless her, who was an innocent when it came to the ways of the when she was young.

We were out for a family drive when we kids were quite young and I'm not sure why, but a car of people passed us, waving, as mum thought. So, mum being a friendly soul "waved" back. My father, who was very upright and pompous, was appalled at her behaviour (it reflected on his "good name").

Never mind that poor mum didn't know what she was doing! She tells this story against herself, shaking her head in amazement that she was so ignorant, but has a good laugh, anyway.

PS: She and my father eventually divorced and I'm not really surprised. He was a very selfish and spendthrift individual who didn't really care about his family.

Best of wishes for tomorrow. I'm still praying for you and it all.
I liked your bumper sticker story. I don't even have one and sometimes those behind me don't make the light. Mrs. Jim will remind me that I should go sometimes if she's along.
