Wings.

Post 254 - - - - - Tuesday, 10th July. 2007.

Hello Everyone ~~ I hope you have had a good start to the week and that
all is well with you. Fine here - I went shopping and Bec was able to have a
sleep in after her long day yesterday. We had a nice afternoon and she has
sorted out some of my photos and put them in appropriate folders.
Tonight. She has gone down to spend some time with John and to see the
dogs. She had some bones to give them, so would be popular with them.

I found a nice story which is called "Wings." Hope you enjoy it.

An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating
picture of God's wings . . . . .

After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their
trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.

One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely
on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight
he knocked over the bird with a stick.
When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead
mother's wings.

The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her
offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings,
instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have
flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze
had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had
remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, those under
the cover of her wings would live . . . .

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will
find refuge . . ." Psalm 91:4.

Another picture of John's dogs -- Buddy and Fluff.

The lst litter of puppies, aren't they cute ?

This is my daughter Julie, her daughter Samantha and her daughter Tabatha
and me. This a four genertion photo.

Julie's kids -- Samantha and Christopher. Gladstone, Queensland.

Apart from the dogs, the other photos were taken in March last year when John
and I had a trip to see them, also Peter, and his daughters. Last time we saw Bec.

I bought a new joke book today and some of them look funny - - I hope !!

John : " I have one of the most intelligent cats in the world."

Simon : "Why, what does he do?"

John : "Watch me pretend to shoot him. Bang ! You're dead!!"

Simon : "But the cat didn't do anything - he's still just licking his paws."

John : "That's what I mean about him being intelligent : he knew he
wasn't dead !!"

One day two male centipedes were standing in the street when a
female centipede strolled past.

One male centipede says to the other, "Now there goes a nice pair
of legs, pair of legs, pair of legs, pair of legs, pair of legs . . . . ."
<><>

"What can you do ?" asked the Personnel Manager.

"Lots," replied the young man. "I can play golf, talk with a public
school accent, make boring speeches, have affairs with secretaries
without my wife finding out, go to sleep in the back of a Rolls Royce,
and generally get publicity for working as hard as possible while in
reality doing nothing at all."

"Excellent !" said the Personnel Manager. "You can start tomorrow
as Managing Director."
<><>

Man : " That darn wife of mine is a liar."
Friend : "How do you know ?"
Man : "Because she said she spent the night with Claire."
Friend : "So ?"
Man : " I spent the night with Claire !!"

It's important that people should know what you stand for.
It's equally important that they know what you won't stand for.

Why doesn't the fellow who says, "I'm no speech maker let it
go at that, instead of giving a demonstration.- - -Kin Hubbard.

Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work
and to play and to look up at the stars. - - -Henry van Dyke.

Time to call it a day. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Have a wonderful week. Love and Best Wishes to all. Merle.

LOL When I saw John's puff balls he calls dogs. I think you need a picture him and his motorcycle and the DOGS.
The puppies are soooooo cute!!
The 4 generation picture was something to brag about. Most only get a picture of 3.
"Wings" makes the heart sing.
WE are to get some relief from the heat and humidity. Tomorrow night we can sit outside comfortable.
take care
peace
