What Goes Around Comes Around.

Post 368 ~ ~ ~ ~ Monday, 19th November, 2007.

Hello My Friends ~~ I hope the week is starting well for you all
and that your lives are good. All OK here, hot again, but it will
be for months so have to get used to it. I am fortunate to have
good cooling and stay indoors as much as possible. I have to put
water on my garden and various other jobs outside.

And yet another birthday girl. My blogging friend Lee Ann has
her birthday is tomorrow, 20th November. I hope you have
a lovely day Lee Ann and enjoy your special day.

My brother Peter told a story about a horse and buggy ride he and our cousin
had in their youth. He posted a picture of the horse and buggy, SO tonight I
have another photo. Same horse, with the very original name of Ned, but a
different picture with three boys on him. Poor long suffering Ned !!

My story tonight is not a new one, but it is a good story. Hope you enjoy.

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day,
while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help
coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy. screaming
and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from
what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse
surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and
introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."

"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied,
waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to
the door of the family hovel.

"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked.
"Yes," the farmer said proudly.

"I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education
my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no
doubt grow up to be a man we both will be proud of." And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time
graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and
went on to become known throughout the world as Sir Alexander
Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years later, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog
was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill.

His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.

Joke time ~ ~ ~

In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for footy
matches, going to the beach and barbecues.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Second Day. On the
Second Day, God created water ~ foe surfing, swimming and barbecues
on the beach.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Third Day. On the
Third Day, God created the Earth to bring forth plants ~ to provide
malt and yeast for beer and wood for barbecues.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day. On the
Fourth Day, God created animals and crustaceans for chops, steak,
sausages and prawns for barbecues.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Fifth Day. On the
Fifth day, God created a bloke ~ to go to the footy, enjoy the beach,
drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at bbq's.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Sixth Day. On the
Sixth Day, God saw that this bloke was lonely and needed someone
to go to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the barbie.
So God created Mates and God saw that they were good blokes.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day. On the
Seventh Day, God looked around at the twinkling barbie fires, heard
the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the
Blokes, smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns and
God saw it was good ~ well almost good.

God saw that the Blokes
were too tired to clean up and needed a rest. So God created Sheilas ~
clean the house, bear the children, wash and cook and clean the barbie.

God saw that it was nor just good, it was better than that, it was
B****y Good !!

The CIA had an opening for an assassin. After all the background
checks , interviews and testing were done there were three finalists - -
Two men and a woman.

For the final test, the CIA agents took one of the men to a large metal
door and handed him a gun. "We must know that you will follow our
instructions, no matter what the circumstances. Inside this room, you
will find your wife sitting in a chair. Kill her !!!

The man said, "You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife."
The agent said, "Then you are not the right man for this job."

Th second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and
went into the room. All was quiet for about five minutes. Then the man
came out with tears in his eyes. "I tried, but I can't kill my wife."

The agent said, "You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home."

Finally it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions to kill
her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard,
one shot after another. They heard screaming, crashing, banging on the walls.
After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood
the woman.

She wiped the sweat from her brow, and said, "This gun is loaded with
blanks, so I had to beat him to death with the chair."

A redhead, a brunette and a blonde perform a Post Office robbery.
They are on the run from the police and they have to ditch their car
and go across country. They are all getting tired and happen across
an old farm with a huge barn. Sneaking inside the barn, they see
three old flour sacks. They all hide in separate sacks.

The police enter the barn and upon seeing the sacks, kick the first
one containing the redhead. The redhead says "Woof"

"Nothing in here but a dog Sarge, " says the constable. "We'd better
move on."

They kick the sack containing the brunette. . . "Meow." she says.
"Nothing in here but a cat, Sarge. Better move on."

They kick the sack containing the blonde and the blonde says,
"Potatoes !"

Q. How does a blonde turn the light on after sex?

A. She kicks the car door open.

Q Did you hear about the blonde who tried to blow up her

A She burned her lips on the tail pipe.

A young man and his date were parked on a back road some
distance from town. They were about to make love when the girl
stopped.
"I really should have mentioned it before, but I'm actually a
hooker and I charge $20 for sex."

The man reluctantly paid her, and they did their thing. After a
cigarette, the man just sat in the driver's seat looking out the
windows.

"Why aren't we going anywhere? " asked the girl.
"Well, I should have mentioned it before, but I'm actually a
taxi driver, and the fare back to town is $25. . ."

Hello dear Merle:-)

You're really getting hot temperatures already and it's still not Summer over there! It's -4c here this morning and there's a layer of frost on the roofs and grass.

"What goes around comes around"...do you know that's a saying that from the time I can remember, my mom always said:-) I never knew that story about Winston Churchill...how wonderful it is!!

Love the picture of Ned and the 3 boys...what fun they must have had on Ned:-) I've only ridden on a horse once in my life, when I was 13, and the experience scared the heck out of me...I'm terrified of heights and I guess it looked too far to the ground when I got up on the horse! lol

Loved all the jokes and quotes...yes, even the blond ones! hehe Take good care dear friend! xoxo

Good morning Merle,
Glad your Monday has started off well. It's chilly, damp and cloudy here. Looks like rain. Tomorrow I go back to see the bone doctor about my knee, he wants to take an x-ray of me standing on both legs. The shot I got a month ago has really worked well. Then next Monday the 26th. I go for my mammogram, Dec. 3rd. Abe goes for his first colonoscopy, and then the next week, I go on Tuesday for blood work, and also to see my oncologist and the next day I go back to see the radiologist. Hoping this will be the last visit to see her. I'm sure I will be seeing the oncologist for the next five years, while I am taking Femera. Glad you blood work was all OK. Have a great rest of the day. Time to go start a bite for lunch. Love, Patty

G'day Merle,
Yesterday post:
The pictures of the garden were lovely and the third caption:
This is a hare's foot fern ~~ with rather long and confused hare's feet.
The caption gave me a tickle.
Life is funny got to me. I really liked that one. Also Jonathan for the funny. I thought that was so cute. The only thing missing from your post were your lovely quotes.
Thank you so much for your Birthday wishes. My Birthday was fabulous! I appreciate the people who came here from your blog with Happy Birthday wishes!
I went over to Lee Ann's to wish her a Happy Birthday. We have a lot of November bloggers! Thank you for letting us know.

I still find it difficult to realize that the weather is reversed between up here and down there—or, vice versa, depending on the map one uses—even though intellectually I am aware of it. May you have a not too hot summer, Merle!

The men/women guns/chairs thing... reminds me of the phrase they used to employ when tracking Bader-Meinhoff terrorists "shoot the women first!"

Dear Merle,

Sorry I haven't been around as usual. I've been so busy getting ready for my family's arrival for Thanksgiving, that I haven't had time to visit my favorite blogs. I really missed reading them, too, especially your words of good cheer! Photo of Ned and the three boys is cute.

What a great story about Sir Alexander Fleming, and Winston Churchill! Good deeds get great rewards!

Haha, funny joke about the Blokes and Sheila! And the blondes. You know Merle, I'm a blonde! But that's okay, I used to have light brown hair. Heehee. So I don't take them personally. Heehee.

I always enjoy visiting you, dear Merle. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Warm regards,

Renie

Merle thank you for your kind birthday good wishes.

I had a lovely day and the phone calls just kept coming which is nice.

Your picture of the boys on the horse reminded me of cute picture we also have of a draft horse with my mother & uncle sitting way up on top of the huge thing.

Keep smiling my friend as your posts always give many a big smile in return.

Hello dear Merle,
I'm trying to squeeze a bit of visiting in between getting my holiday preparations done. It's rather chilly here, but as you say with your heat, we have several more months of this weather:)
Enjoyed your jokes and I've been to see LeeAnn already on her birthday!

Old photos can really bring back many memories. It has still been warm here as well - 78F - today but at least we have had a few days of frost to discourage the bugs. Now if only we could get some rain. ec

Dear Merle,

The horse pic is cute - look at the boys how small that they look!

I didn't know the story of Fleming and Churchill - thanks for posting - it is a wonderful story.

Yes, what goes around, always comes around. We will always reap that which we sow.

The holidays are on us in America, and the weather is cooling down here - but for you it is getting very warm...please take care not to be out for long if it gets very hot.

Have a good day, Merle.
