You Know.

Post 391 ~ ~ ~ Wednesday, 9th January, 2008.

Hello my Friends ~~ I hope all is well with you. I am fine, but it is very hot
here today with a couple of Very hot days to follow - 40C and 41C which
is over the 100 mark F. We just have to grin and bear it and pray there are
no serious bushfires as there often is at this time of year. The authorities
are quite anxious this week. I plan to post about previous bushfires soon.

I have just come home from having my hair cut, so that feels cooler. And
my Avon lady has been and gone. I used to sell Avon many years ago.
Yesterday was my fortnightly shopping day. and along with lots of food, I
asked at a chemist shop about Lutein for Macular Degeneration, and it was
readily available.

I do not know why our eye doctors do not recommend it to slow down the
degeneration. I thank two bloggers for the info about that. Jim from U.S.
and Pea from Canada. I intend to mention it to the eye people on my next
visit.

Tonight'a first item is called "You Know." Author Unknown. Enjoy.

You know you are in love when you can say anything to the person and
you know they won't laugh at you.

When you can see their face when you close your eyes.
When you can still feel their arms around you holding you tight long
after they have gone.
When you can still taste their kiss after you've said goodbye.

You can tell you're in love when you miss them before they are gone.

When their voice lingers in your ears.
When their presence eases any pain.
When their name sends chills down your spine.
When they are the only thing you can think about.

You know you're in love when you can see all their hopes and dreams
and soul when you look in their eyes.

When they call you at four in the morning and say, :I love you" and mean it.
When your tears stain not only their shirt, but also their heart.
When they are hurt just because of these tears.
When even a simple chore done with them can become a lasting memory.

Ultimately, you know you're in love when you can't imagine being without
them, and can't figure, how did you live before you knew them.

When they fulfil every need and without them you are incomplete.

The love of someone else completes the heart, and soul, and mind all at once.

Enough love, let's find some jokes ~ ~ ~

He started his business career in the mail-room of a large company.
Within a month he had been promoted to assisstant office manager.
Two months later he was appointed director of the company. As he
entered the room for his first board meeting he looked at the chairman
and said, "Hello, Dad."

The rebels had moved into the holiday resort and captured three
men, a management consultant and two salesmen.

The captives were taken to rebel headquarters where they were to
be held hostage until the government gave in to their demands.

Unfortunately, the government refused to comply with the rebel's
requests so the three men were told they would be executed, but
they could choose the method, firing squad or guillotine.

All three chose the guillotine, believing it would be the fastest and
most painless end. Many members of the rebel army seemed to be
hooked on drugs and the firing squad's aim might not be too
accurate and the captured men might be badly injured and slowly
bleed to death.

The first salesman was brought in to the guillotine. He knelt down
with his head in the right position -- and the blade came down -- but
it stopped before it reached his neck.

"This is a sign from God," said the salesman. "He does not want me to
be killed. You should set me free." The rebel leader agreed to let him go.

One of the rebels re-adjusted the guillotine and the second salesman
was forced into the position. The blade came hurtling down -- but it
stopped before it reached him.

"Another sign from God." shouted the salesman. "You should free me."
The rebel leader agreed to let him go.

Then the maagement consultant was led towards the guillotine, but he
shouted, "Stop! That thing clearly does not work properly. You'd better
use the firing squad instead!!

I once knew a couple who were in the iron and steel business -- she did
the ironing, while he went out stealing.

Yesterday, my young daughter (we called her Yesterday because she
was an after-thought) asked my husband, "Where dod I come from?"

He was rather embarrassed, so told her to ask me.
"Where do I come from?" she asked again, so I carefully explained to
her all about love, marriage, sex and all the facts of life."

My daughter then said, "Yes, I know all that. But where do I come from?
My friend Sally comes from Cardiff -- where do I come from ?"

The house-proud woman gave birth to twins. She kept her house
immaculately clean. The kitchen smelled permanently of disinfectant.

The twin's milk bottles were always thoroughly sterilized, their clothes
washed in the most powerful washing powders to remove any germs.

Then when the twins started to get a bit grumpy and grizzly, she asked
a friend who had successfullycoped with triplets what she should do."

"Oh," said the friend, "the twins are probably just teething. Why don't
you put your finger in their mouths . . . ."
"What?" shrieked the mother, "Don't you have to boil the finger first?"

My wife and I recently returned from a luzury cruise. On our first day at
sea we received a note from the Captain assking us to sit with him at dinner.

We didn't join him as my wife thought it was outrageous that we should
pay a small fortune to go on the cruise and then be expected to eat with
the staff.

A man had been arrested and charged with stealing 500 cigars, He
consulted a solicitor for advice and was quoted a fee for defending him.

"I can't afford all that!" exclaimed the man. "I'm completely innocent.
Wouldn't you like some boxes of cigars instead of a cash fee?"

I was sitting on a train to London the other day when I over-heard two
young girls talking.

One girl said, "Last night, Julian told me that he wanted to marry the
cleverest, most beautiful girl in the world."

"Oh," replied the other girl, "That's a pity. He's been your boyfriend
for two years and now he says he's going to marry someone else."
<><>

I married my wealthy husband because he said if I did he would be
humbly grateful. Instead, he's been grumbly hateful.

The last few quotes from my friendship calendar. ~ ~ ~

We are on this earth for a short time and true friends
make it an enjoyable journey.

A friend is not embarrassed to give you a comforting
hug when you most need one.

A friend is a special person
Who, no matter what life brings,
Helps us see the bright side
Of so many different things.
<><>

That is it for this post folks. I hope the New Year is going well for
you and that your lives are good. Take great care, and be kind to
each other. Give a smile to someone who hasn't got one.
Love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

I got my hair cut yesterday also. But mine is getting so thin, I think it's the Femara I'm taking, that's causing it to thin so much.

Hope you're having a little cooler weather today. We had quite a storm last night, but thank goodness nothing was damaged around here. Right now our temp is 44F which would be, I think close to 10C. Not sure though.

Hello Merle. It's been quite a while since I visited, but now with the holiday rush over and all the visiting done, I'm popping in to wish you a happy and richly blessed 2008! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. We certainly did.
You're having some sizzling temps there. I do hope the bushfires don't start up!! We've had a January thaw, and a little taste of spring. Too bad it's so far off...but it gives us a bit of rest and relaxation time.
I like the 'love' item :)

Hi Merle. It's so good to be back blogging again. The enforced rest did nothing for my state of mind!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that 2008 brings you lots of love and happiness.

Big hugs xoxo

Hi Merle,

I'm glad you purchased some Lutein.

Ah, love, it can be so lovely. Thank you for the reminder. :-)

I just heard from my cousin, Elena, who lives in Ballarat, Victoria. They went to Australia two years ago, and love it. She said they are applying for permanent residency.

Funny jokes, as always, and the friendship quotes are right on!

Keep cool, dear Merle and have a wonderful day.

Blessings and Love,

Renie

Blogger isn't letting me comment signing in as me, so I am trying it anonymously, but it's me, dear Merle. LOL Renie

Hi Merle
It sounds like it's all happening down by you with the weather... constant drought then excessive flooding
you are right a haircut can make you feel much better (not just cooler)
I was sorry to hear about your eyes .. one of my old friends was "partially sighted" with retinitis pigmentosa which strikes young (childhood in her case) ... so I know a bit about the issues, so to speak

as for the new year I don't know how it's going

I was going to say "I give up!"

but I don't really

I don't want you to give up either - but you don't strike me as that type of person

take care Merle

xx

Bel's results for the previous exams should be out in either February or March.
