The Most Beautiful Rainbow.

Post 477 ~ ~ ~ Wednesday, 9th July, 2008.

Hello Everyone ~~ How is the world treating you today?
I hope it is not too hot for the Northerners, or too cold
for us Southerners. We had a reasonable day today,
but expect more rain tomorrow. We had about 1 inch
Monday and Tuesday, but more will be great.

Tonight's first item was sent by my dear friend,
Jeanette and is called The Most Beautiful Rainbow.
Thank you Jan.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that
wasn't supposed to ever let you down, probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than
once and it's harder every time.

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when
yours was broken. You 'll fight with your best friend.
You will blame a new love for things an old one did.

You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll
eventually lose someone you love. So take too many
pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never
been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset
is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that
it will never begin.

Live simply. Love generously.
Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Life is Too Short.

Next one is from my dear friend, Gwen.
Thanks Gwen for the first joke tonight.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. . . .
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

God saw that you were hungry and created McDonalds,
Red Rooster and the Cheesecake Shop.

He saw that you were thirsty and created Coke, Juice,
Coffee and Water.

God saw you in the dark and created Light.

God saw you without a Good looking, adorable,
FRIEND . . . . . So He created ME

Smile and pass this on to your good friends who are so lucky
to have You for a friend also.
Well you two girls certainly brightened this post, somewhat.
<><>

"How was your date last night, Billy?" his friend
asked.
"Fabulous. We went to a concert, had a bite to eat,
and then we drove around for a while until I found
a nice dark spot to park. I asked her for a kiss, and
she said that first I'd have to put the top down on
the car. So I worked for an hour getting the top down."

"An hour?" interrupted his pal. "I can put my top
down in three minutes."

"I know," said Billy, "But you have a convertible."
<><>

An 85 year old widow went on a blind date with a
90 year old man. When she returned to her
daughter's house later that night, she seemed
upset. "What happened Mum?" the daughter asked.

"I had to slap his face three times."
"You mean he got fresh?"
"No," she answered. "I thought he was dead."
<><>

A cockney asked a Roman Catholic colleague's help
in choosing a bride. "I'm torn between Betty and
Maria." he said. "Ow do you Catholics make decisions?"

"I go to church," said his pal, "Then I look up and
pray, and the answer comes to me."

Next day the Cockney as all excited. "I did what you
told me mate and the answer was given."
"What happened ?"

"I went to your church, knelt in prayer, looked up
and there it was. Written in gold, 'igh above a
stained-glass window."
"What did it say ?"
"It said 'ave Maria."
<><>

John, an avant-garde painter , got married.
Someone asked the bride a few weeks after the
wedding, "How's married life, Helen?"

"It's great," she answered. "My husband paints
and I cook..; then we try to guess what he painted
and what I cooked."
<><>

A young executive stomped onto the escalator,
obviously upset. "What' the matter?" asked a
business man standing there.

"Nepotism." shouted the first man. "My boss
just bypassed me and made his nephew office
manager."
"I see ," the other said, handing over his business
card, "If you need legal advice, please call me."

The young man glanced at the card : "O'Brien, O'Brien,
O'Brien and O'Brien Barristers."
<><>

Pilot to airline passengers : "Ladies and gentlemen,
I have some good news and some bad news. The
bad news is that we have a hi-jacker on board.
The good news is he wants to go to the French
Riviera."

A few quotes to finish with ~ ~ ~

I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he
was far from being gruntled. ~~P. G. Wodehouse.

When people agree with me I always feel I must
be wrong. ~ ~ ~ Oscar Wilde.

It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear
stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
~ ~ ~ Mark Twain.

Hanging is too good for a man who makes
puns; he should be drawn and quoted.
~ ~ ~Fred Allen.

A man may be a fool and not know it, but not
if he is married. ~~ H. L. Mencken.

Always do right. That will gratify some of the
people, and astonish the rest. ~~Mark Twain.

Bye for now, my friends, I hope you found
something to interest you and make you smile.
Enjoy the rest of the week and be kind to each
other. Love and Best wishes to you all.
Cheers, Merle.

It has been a bit too hot for this 'northern' southerner - we did get a bit of rain tonight and hopefully will tomorrow. Instead of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in the photo, there is a portable toilet - maybe just as valuable at times. :) ec

A lovely post, Merle. Good sense and a lot of laughs. I love Oscar Wilde...that man is always good for a quote. To paraphrase one of my favourites:

It's inconvenient to lose one parent; to lose two is downright careless.

Take care.

Once again you have quite a few good ones. Like the one of the 85 year old widow going on a date. LOL

We're still having pretty warm weather here. In fact an ice cream cone sounds pretty good about now.

Love the rainbow. Must be the day for rainbows as Cousin CD had a video of Rainbow falls on hers. Thanks for the laughs and with every quote I like Mark Twain better than ever. Peace be with you.
