Things to be Thankful For.

Post 534 ~~ Monday, 17th November, 2008.

Hello Everyone ~~ Here we go again ~~ all OK here and hope you are the same. I do hope you all have a wonderful week. I got a fairly good report at the doctor today, I have a bit of this and a bit of that, but nothing serious, and we agreed we would lea
ve well alone until they create a real problem. So that was a relief. I have been cooking again, so hope I last long enough to post a decent post.

We have had a birthday today -- our good friend Connie aka Meow, so please pop over to wish her a very
Happy Birthday. I hope you have had a wonderful day, Connie

Three generations ~~ Granddaughter Kate, recently home from France, Merle
and daughter Kathy.

This one is for my dear friend Joy. Surely mine is more covered than yours ??

Another from Helen Steiner Rice. "Things To Be Thankful For."

To good green earth beneath our feet,
The air we breathe, the food we eat,
Some work to do, a goal to win,
A hidden longing deep within
That spurs us on to bigger things.

And helps us meet what each day brings,
All these things and many more
Are things we should be thankful for . . .
And most of all our thankful prayers
Should rise to God - because He cares!

Now for some jokes ~ ~ ~

The nun teaching Sunday School was speaking to her class one Sunday morning and she asked the question. "When you die and go to Heaven . . . .
which part of your body goes first?"

Susie raised her hand and said, "I think it's your hands.
"Why do you think that Susie?"
Susie replied, "Because when you pray, you hold your hands together in front of and God just takes your hands first."

"What a wonderful answer," the Nun said.
Little Johnny raised his hand and said, "Sister, I think it's your legs."

The nun looked at him, with the stramgest look on her face. "Now Little Johnny, why do you think it would be your legs?"
Little Johnny said, "Well, when I walked into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom
the other night, Mommy had her legs straight up in the air and she was saying, "Oh, God I'm coming." "If Dad hadn't had her pinned down, we'd have lost her."

Q,Name a major disease associated with cigarettes,
A, Premature death.

A husband and wife were having dinner at a very when this abosolutely
stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big open-mouthed kiss, then says she'll see him later and walks away.

The wife glares at her husband and says, "Who the hell was that?"
"Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress."
"Well, that's the last straw," say the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce."

"I can understand that," replies her husband, "but remember if we get a divorce it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in
Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Infiniti or Lexus in the garage and no more yacht club. But the decision is yours."

Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm. "Who's that woman with Jim?" asks the wife.
"That's his mistress," says her husband. "Ours is prettier." she replies.

"Do you speak to your wife when you are making love?"
"Only if she rings up."
<><>

A little girl's prayer : "Oh God, make the bad people good and the good people nice."

Well, it has been a busy day, so goodbye for tonight. I will try to do my next post earlier in the day before I get too tired. Bye for now, Take great care. Love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Glad your check up was pretty good, nothing real serious, but keep a watch on everything. Pretty much the way mine was the last time I had blood work.

Like the jokes, as usual some funnies.

If that is your frig, you certainly do have it full. I keep very little on mine. Right now some of the Granddaughter's papers from school. My husband doesn't like to see a lot of things stuck on the door. Seems like he has trouble opening and shutting it. LOL

We had some snow here last evening, and a little this morning. Doing the laundry, still have about three more loads to complete. Thought I would make a meat loaf for supper tonight. I try to have dinner/supper ready so when the daughter gets home from work we can eat right away and get the dishes done early.

Take care. Lovely picture of the three generations.

Hi Merle, thanks for the birthday wishes ... you are so sweet. I had a wonderful day ... shame it had to end.
I am glad to hear that you had good reports from the doctors ... that is such good news.
Have a wonderful week.
Take car, hugs, Connie xxx

Hi Merle. It's good to hear that the doctor's report was relatively positive. Pity about the Panadol Osteo not working for you though. Still, I guess it was worth a try.

I hope the rest of the week goes well.

Take care. Hugs.

Yes please live to 100 I might have finally turned myself around by then(!!) (and you think I'm joking??!?)

V glad the results came back good.

I've not found a supplier of those special "training specs" as I suppose they would call them... my friend who reduced her prescription so much has moved out of town. She had a pair... if only we could get back in touch...

Hey I have yet to get hold of the Source Text:

Better Sight Without Glasses

I know it must work wonderfully as the opticians of the world hate it and do all they can to rubbish it. You should read the wikipedia article on Mr Bates the founder of the method: totally hijacked by disgruntled optometrists!

(BTW even I contribute to wikipedia as and when I please... so beware of using it as a sauce for anything~!!!)

Glad your visit to the doctors was a good one.

That's a lovely photograph. Each generation getting taller. How tall is Kate?

Hello Dear Merle. I've missed reading your posts. I have been so busy with trying to set up house again after the move. My computer sat on the floor in the spare bedroom for a couple of weeks before I finally got the desk back together in the Florida Room where it was originally intended to be. Still have quite a bit to get put away. The garage is a lost cause. We moved a two-care garage full of stuff into a one-car garage! So much for the car being kept out of the elements! LOL
Take care and have a great week.
Lisa

I'm sorry I'm so late in seeing this post Merle. I'm not sure...but I think you may actually have more magnets than me on your refrigerator. It's hard to tell since you have them all so close together and I have them spread all over, but you certainly do have a lot...and some really good ones too. One of these days I'm going to get a picture of mine and show you. I guess we're just hopeless addicts Merle....oh well...I just love them. Thanks so much for the very sweet mention sweetie.....sorry I was so late in getting here. Love, Joy
