Awards and "Don't Quit."

Post 543 ~ ~ ~ Friday, 5th December, 2008.

Hello Everyone ~~Nice to be back with you and I hope this finds you well and enjoying your lives. I am fine, but like everyone else the Christmas season is catching up with me. I plan to write my cards over the weekend and sort out the presents for family. Busy, busy, busy.

UPDATE ~~ My dear blogging friend, Connie aka Meow and her husband just celebrated
their 20th Wedding Anniversary. Won't you pop over to wish them both a Happy Day
and many more happy years together. Love and blessings to you both, dear Connie.

I feel very guilty about not acknowledging these awards before, so will get on with it now.
My dear friend Patty sent me the Superior Scribbler award in November. Thank you so much.

The rules are No. 1 Post the award on your blog.
No. 2. Link to me, Merle for giving it to you.
No 3. Pass the award on to five more deserving people. No.4. Post these rules for your recipients.

I would like to pass this on to the following friends ~~

so please anyone who would like "The I Luv Your Blog" award, just take it.

This is a beautiful boquet on a pedestal that Gramma Ann sent me after I gave her an award.
This is just lovely, dear Ann and was a lovely surprise. Thank you so much.

This one was sent to me twice ~~ From my dear friend Joy and also Gramma Ann.
Many thanks to you both and if anyone would like it, please just take it.

Last but not least is the Prozimidade Award the Gramma Ann sent me today. Thank you Ann.

PROXIMITY to one another through the online world. I have to pass this on to 8 blogging friends.
No 1 is Lisa at Raccoon Lover; No 2 Lady Di ; No 3 Joy ; No 4 Hootin' Anni;

No 5 Connie aka Meow; No 6 Patty ; No 7. Robyn and No. 8 Sma

DON'T QUIT.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will.
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh.

When care is pressing you down a bit . . . .
By all means pray, and don't you quit.
Success is failure turned
inside out,
God's hidden gift in the clouds of doubt.

You never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So trust in the Lord when you're hardest hit . . .
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit. Author Unknown.

I got this joke in a Christmas card from a ggod friend. Thank you Edna.

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year
Morris would say, "Esther, I'd like to ride in that helicopter."
Esther always replied, "I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty quid and fifty quid is fifty quid."

One year they went to the fair and Morris said, "Esther, I'm 85 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance."
To this, Esther replied, "Morris that helicopter is fifty quid and fifty quid is fifty quid."

The pilot overheard the couple and said, "Folks, I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word, I won't charge you. But if you say one word, it's fifty quid."

Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy manoeuvres, but not a word was heard. He did his dare-devil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris
and said, "By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed."

Morris replied, "Well to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know, fifty quid is fifty quid."

I have posted the next joke before, but I like it and hope you do also.

HONK IF YOU LOVE :

Got a letter the other day from Grandma. She writes: Today I went to a local Christian book-
store and saw a "Honk if you love Jesus" bumper sticker.

I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus, because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that a lot of people love Jesus.

While I was sitting there, the guy behind me started honking like crazy, leaned out of his window and screamed, "For the love of God. Go. Go. Jesus Christ, go." What an exuberant cheer leader he was for Jesus.

Everyone started honking. I just leaned out of my window and started waving and smiling at all these loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love. There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yell something about a "sunny beach."

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. The I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, snd he said that it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign. Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back. My grandson burst out laughing . . . Why, even he was enjoying this religious experience.

A couple of people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this when I noticed that the light had changed. So I waved to all my brothers and sisters, grinned, and drove off through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through before the lights changed again, and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we shared, so I slowed the car down and leaned out of the window, and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.
Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks. Love, Grandma.

A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid snd so beautiful
all at the same time."

The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me ; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you."
<><>

Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right and the other is a husband.
<><>

A blonde and a brunette were walking on the beach when a seagull left a deposit on the blonde;s head. The brunette said, "Don't worry, I will run over to the toilet block and get some toilet paper."

The blonde said, "Don't waste your time, by the time you get back that seagull will be miles away."
<><>

One day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very sexy nightie.
'"Tie me up," she purred, and you can do anything you want."

So he tied her up and went golfing.
<><>

A Sydney police officer got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding
rolled down his window.
"I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said.

The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could."
When the cop finally stopped laughing , he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.
<><>
.

Well folks, that is it for tonight. I want to get some other work done over the weekend.
Take good care, and have a great weekend. My love and best wishes to you all.
Cheers, Merle. Next post will be Monday, all being well.

Hello Merle. I want to congratulate you on all the lovely awards you have received. Some are very pretty.
I laughed at the Honk If You Love joke. I have seen it before and it is really funny.
I imagine you are enjoying your summer and probably are spending time in your new gazebo. Good for you!
It is colder than a well diggers hind end around these parts and this old gal is staying in close to the heat source!
Take care.
Love & Hugs

Hello Merle,

Well, what can I say? You had me laughing again today. "Honk, if you love me." lol... and it is just like a grandson to explain something wrong and set back and laugh. I had not heard that joke before.

Thank you for the award, I will display it on my blog. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in thinking of me.

Don't work to hard this week-end, but just do enough to enjoy yourself. And set down and rest often in your new gazebo and furniture.

Ann

Dear Merle,

Congratulations on all the lovely and well deserved awards!

I am glad you are doing well. And like you, I am so busy, but not quite all well yet. I can't believe Christmas is almost here. I still have to shop and have not written out my cards. Greg will be here tomorrow and we will go shopping to a larger city, where I usually don't drive. Must finish up most of my shopping then.

Don't Quit is a great reminder to all of us.

Oh, Morris was a bad boy! Hahaha. And Grandma was a bad girl! Hahaha. Hawaiian good luck sign. Haha. Oh, my, you just had me chuckling all the way through this post, dear Merle! Have a wonderful weekend, and see you again, soon.

Love and blessings,

Renie

Dear Merle,

The "Don't Quit' piece is a good one - we use to have a slightly different version hanging in the office.

The flower pedestal that Gramma Ann sent you is pretty - of course red is my favorite.

You said summer is about to begin there, oou it's cold here - almost time for winter.

Looks like you've been getting a lot of awards - I have one more for you - I'm passing you the Butterfly Award. It's on my blog when you get time.

Have a wonderful weekend, I'll be spending time over here catching up.

This past Thanksgiving was a real hoot - I met people that I didn't know I was related to! ..:/0

That "Honk if you love" is priceless. I've read it before but it still makes me laugh. Can you imagine a video of that? Hilarious.

Hope you're not feeling the heat too much, Merle. It's about 36C here and a tad warm. The airconditioner in the car works overtime in this heat.

Take care and keep cool. Hugs.

Thank you, thank you....thank you dear Merle for the wonderful award!! You certainly made my day.

I bet that everyone is having a busy month what with Christmas. It takes a lot of time.

[I DO! love the bouquet you received, and having it sitting in the window with the sun rays coming in...it's even MORE gorgeous!]

That helicopter ride joke was a hoot!!! That would probably be what Bud would have done. LOL

Happy weekend, and thanks again.

PS....I have a Christmas Gift on my sidebar for anyone that wants it. So, if you do...stop by and grab it. :o)

Wow, look at all these awards. You are a loved lady Merle. Thank you so much for thinking of me my dear friend for this award. I have already received it and passed it on myself to several blogging friends not long ago. As a matter of fact....if I'm not mistaken; I think I've gotten this award from you before. I could be wrong though, it's hard to remember sometimes. Thanks again sweetie for your generosity. Have a most wonderful weekend. I'm still preparing for Xmas...taking things off of my "to-do" list. Much love, Joy

Good morning Merle, cold here this morning, snowing lightly. I am just not ready for Winter this year.

I got the award posted, but since I also received it from another friend on the same day, I only posted once mentioning both of you and only picked 8 people. Even 8 was hard to do, since some had already received the award.

Have to run. things to get done.

Thanks for the award. Love, Patty

Hi Merle,

I still find it odd that you have your Christmas in the first of summer while we have it in the winter. But I keep reminding myself they're on the other side of the planet from me.

I hope it's not too hot for you, we're foggy over here but so far no frost. Though it is getting cold. Usually we have the first hard frost before Thanksgiving and everyone of my tomato plants are dead, so far only one died. I think that was over stressed or a gopher was nibbling on its roots.

I think I liked your teenager who got stopped by the cop the best this time.

Have a nice weekend and don't get too hot,
Janice~
