My story tonight is called "Sand and Stone," and was sent by my dear friend, Gwen.
Thank you so much Gwen, I hope you are keeping well.

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, they had a disagreement; and one friend slapped the other in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:

Today my best friend slapped me in the face.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they both decided to have a bath.
The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near-drowning, he wrote on a stone:

Today my best friend saved my life.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone, Why?"

The friend replied "When someone hurts us, we write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness
can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where
no wind can ever erase it.

Learn to write your hurts in sand and to carve your benefits in stone.

They say it takes a minute to find a special friend, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them,
but then an entire life time to forget them. Send this to the people you will never forget.

First joke tonight was sent to me by Sue and Bob. Thank you for this one.

Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob. So they loaded up Jack's minivan and headed north..
After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. So they pulled into a nearby farm
and asked the attractive lady who answered the door, if they could spend the night.

"I realize it's terrible weather out there, but I'm recently widowed," she explained. "I am afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in the house."

"Don't worry, " Jack said. "We'll be happy to sleep in the barn and if the weather breaks, we'll be gone
at first light." The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled for th night.
Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they got on their way. They enjoyed a great weekend of
skiing.
But, about 9 months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the ski weekend?"

He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked, "Bob, do you remember that good looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our skiing holiday up north about nine months ago?"

"Yes, I do," said Bob.
"Did you -er -happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?"

"Well, um, yes," Bob said, a little embarrassed about being found out, "I have to admit, I did."
"And did you happen to give her my name instead of telling her your name?"

Bob's face turned red and he said, "Yeah, look ........I..I'm sorry, buddy. I'm afraid ......I did. Why
do you ask?"

She died and left me everything."

(And you thought the ending would be different, didn't you?

Two old war veterans are sitting on a park bench watching the world go by. A young lady in her 20s walks past with a very short dress and a very revealing neckline. The 2 old blokes ogle with curiosity
as she walks past.

Then one Veteran says to the other, "Remember the stuff they used to put in our cocoa to stop our
sexual thoughts?" "Yeah, that was a b****y long time ago. Why?"

"Well, I think it's beginning to work."
<><>

Two young men from Glasgow, named Archie and Jock sitting in the pub, discussing Jock's wedding.

"it's all going like magic," says Jock. I have everything organized alsready ~~ the flowers, the cars,
the reception, the rings, the minister and even my stag night." Archie nods approvingly.

"Man, I even bought a kilt to be married in."

"A kilt?" says Archie, "That's grand, you'll look smart in that. What's the tartan?"

"Oh," said Jock, "I imagine she will be in white."
<><>

I am very sorry, but I have to get to bed, my eyes won't stay open. Take care and enjoy the weekend
which is almost here in Australia. I hope there are not too many typos. Love and best wishes to you all.
Cheers, Merle,

Hello dear Merle.
Sorry I'm just getting around to reading your post. Thank you for the award, and congratulations on yours. I am not able to post the award currently as my internet is down once again. I won't have it back until Jan. 28 :(
Love your post, as always. We are just starting to warm up a bit. It is currently 40 degrees F. Last week we had 2 or 3 days of below zero weather. Last Friday morning it got down to 20 below F!
Take care and have a great weekend.
Thank you again for the award.
