Always There.

Post 574 ~ ~ ~ Sunday, 15th February, 2009.

Hello Everyone ~~ I had a lovely surprise visit today from my grandson, Scott and his
girlfriend Nicole. Scott rang a little while before they arrived, as they had been in Wangaratta to a 21st Birthday. Scott is my son, Geoff and DIL Joanne's son. They also have a daughter, Michelle who is a school teacher.

It was lovely to see Scotty and to meet Nicole. I have a photo of them to show you.

Click to enlarge. Nice picture for St Valentine's Day. Scott will be 21 in a few weeks.

Thank you both for the lovely potted plant you brought me ~~ it's lovely and you both cheered me up a lot after the sad week we have had.

Geoff works at the Whittlesea Council as a Safety Officer. So he was helping out at the
Survivors temporary city today lending a hand getting details etc.

My other son, John hasn't rung me yet so he can't be home yet. He said it would be Monday, but I thought he might get home tonight (Sun.) His doggies are fine.

Tonight I have a poem or prayer called "Always There." Author Unknown.

Hello God, I called tonight . . . . . . . . . . .To talk a little while
I need a friend who'll listen . . . . . . . . . . To my anxiety and trial.

You see, I can't quite make it . . . . . . . .Through a day just on my own, , ,
I need your love to guide me . . . . . . . . So I'll never feel alone.

I want to ask you please to keep, . . . . . My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence . . For whatever fate they're bound.

Give me faith, dear God, to face . . . . .. .Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things . . . . . . . . I can't change in any way.

I thank you God, for being home . . . . . . And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice . . . . . . . When I stumble and I fall.

Your number, God, is the only one . . . . . That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal, . . . . . . . . . . .. I Never had to pay a dime.

So thank you, God, for listening . . . . . . To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love you too, . . . . . And I'll call again tomorrow.

A STUNNING
SENIOR'S MOMENT.

Apparently, a self important college freshman attending a recent football game took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.

"You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one," said the student, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear . "The young people of today grew up with

Television
Jet Planes
Space travel
Man walking on the moon
Our space probes have visited Mars
We have nuclear energy, ships and electric and hydrogen cars
Cell phones
Computers with light-speed processing... and more.."

After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows . . .
"You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young . . . . so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little s**t, what are you doing for the next generation?"
The applause was deafening. . . . .
<><> Thank you Sherrill for that one.

One from Sue and Bob - - Thank you.

Quote of the Day.

Whatever you give a woman, she will make it greater.
If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.
If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.
If you giver her groceries, she'll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of s**t.
<><>

Few more blonde jokes from Sue and Bob.

A blonde was playing Trivial Pursuit one night. It was her turn. She rolled the dice and landed on Science and Nature. Her question was, "If you are in a vacuum and someone calls your name, can you hear it?"

She thought for a time and then asked, "Is it on or off?"

A blonde goes to the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards.
She says to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas stamps?"

The clerk says, "What denomination?"

The blonde says, "God, help us, has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholics, 10 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran, 22 Baptists and 2 Mormon ones."

A girl was visiting her blonde friend, who had acquired two new dogs, and asked what their names were. The blonde responded by saying, that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex.

Her friend said, "Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?"

"HELLOOOOOOOOO....." answered the blonde. "They're watch dogs!!"

A little boy wanted to know how it would feel to have $1,000. His mother told him to pray to God for it. He prayed for 2 weeks and nothing turned up, so he wrote a letter to
God requesting $1,000.

When the Post Office received the letter addressed to God, they opened it and decided to send it to the President. The President was so impressed and touched and amused, that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy $20. He thought that this would appear a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $20 and sat down to write a letter of thanks to God,
It read as follows : "Dear God, thank you very much for the money. I noticed that you had to send it through the Government. As usual, those thieves deducted $980 for tax."

In the Ark hives.

Enough for tonight my friends. I hope you all had or are having a very Happy Valentin's Day and enjoyed the weekend. Take care of each other and keep on smiling. My love and best wishes to you
all. Cheers, Merle.

Dear Merle,

How nice that your handsome grandson Scott and his beautiful girl friend came to visit you. It's always nice to have family to come by.

Always There is a beautiful prayer. Thank you for sharing it.

Haha on the Senior Moment. That old guy taught the young whipper- snapper something, didn't he? And so true about women. We're a resourceful gender! LOL.

Ah, the coping diet sounds so delish! Hahaha. Unfortunately, I couldn't indulge in the last part of it.

Dear Merle, I enjoyed the visit, and am glad all is well with you. That cute Koala rescue was so touching. Saw it on the news.

Got to run. Time to get ready for church. Have a blessed Sunday, dear friend. Hope the fires are soon out. Stay safe!

Love and blessings,

Renie

Hi there Merle

Just calling in to catch up with what's going on over there. Love all the jokes.
Your grandson is quite a 'looker' what? and his girlfriend is so SLIM ....snarl snarl!
Make a very nice pair anyway.
Lovely to see family, I look forward to mine visiting when they can.

Hope all the fires are now getting under control. If arson is proved will the perpetrator ever be found i wonder? Shocking is the thought someone would deliberately set fire and kill so many people, intended or not.

Love and best wishes to you all over there, my prayers are with you.

Love Granny

Hello Merle,

What a cute couple your grandson and his girlfriend are. And the "Senior Moment" joke was so funny.

I hope things are getting back to normal after the sad week last week.

Last night on the news they ran the story of "Sam the Koala" but I saw it first on your blog.

Have a wonderful week!

Dear Merle,
How nice your Grandson Scott and his girlfriend stopped by. They make a very handsome couple.

I really liked the senior joke, good for the old man.

Glad everything is starting to get back to normal in your end of the country. I would think there is nothing worse than fighting fires during the hot weather.

A friend of ours, lost his home early yesterday morning. Nothing left. Thank goodness he wasn't home, but I doubt his cat made it out of the house. Abe has a photo on his blog. http://brookvilledailyphoto.blogspot.com/

Had another busy day. The last three days have been busy, busy, busy. Tomorrow I hope to catch up on all the blogs I like to read. Tonight I'm just stopping by a few of them.

Sleep well my friend. Here it has turned cooler again. It's about 30 degrees F.

Love, Patty

Isn't it lovely when the grandchildren think to call in. A lot of young ones are too busy with their own lives to bother. I love it when my grandchildren pop in and they always know I'll have something for them to eat and drink.

Lovely to see a photo of your grandson and his girlfriend, Merle.

Hugs.

Thanks for the lovely prayer. It reminded me of Rabbi Lionel Blue who used to often appear on radio here and he talked to God like he was talking to a friend. Often it was really funny. He didn't pull any punches.

Pleased your grandson called on you, they look a lovely couple.

Heard from my friends near Melbourne, thank goodness they're safe but had to go to friends for safety.

Take care

Hello dear Merle. I just popped in to see how you are, and I'm wondering how everyone is coping after such a terribly tragic week. I'm glad to hear that things have calmed down at least.
I've seen the photo of 'Sam' the koala and I loved reading the story. Poor little thing. I'm glad she's OK. Thanks for sharing that.
Take care dear friend.

Hello dear Merle. How nice of your grandson and his girlfriend to come and visit you. Nice looking couple.
Love the jokes, especially the letter to God. Unfortunately, that's about what it adds up to. The government is sooo greedy!
Take care and have a wonderful week.

What a cute couple!!! And how nice that they took the time to come and visit you!!! I know you had a great day!!!

Wnjoyed all the stories and jokes. You really do crack me up sometimes!!! LOL

That story about the kaola bear just broke my heart when I first saw it on TV. Poor little thing, and she was the lucky one to have survived the fires. How sad that her poaws were burnt. I have such a love for ALL animals that I would love to shelter them all from harm and make sure they had food and shelter every day, too.
