Hug Certificate.

Post 611 ~ ~ Monday, 29th June, 2009.

Hello My Friends, I hope all is well wherever you are. All OK here, although I am starting
a bit late tonight. My Home Care lady comes tomorrow and cleans the floors etc. I wash
the sheets from my bed, and Kerry helps remake it up with fresh sheets. Actually it was
nice and warm here today. I think we got to 18C which is about 64.4 F. So I did some
other washing and got it dry. All very exciting. My neighbor, Helen called in to see me.

I received the following item from my dear friend, Ann Adams today, so enjoy Thanks Ann.

An Indian Hug. ~ ~ This poem is very sweet.

If I could catch a rainbow, I would do it just for you

And share with you it's beauty, on the days that you feel blue.

If I could build a mountain, You could call your very owm;

A place to find serenity, A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles, I would toss them in the sea,

But all these things I'm finding, are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain, Or catch a rainbow fair,

But let me be what I know best, A friend who's always there.

My son, Geoff sent this information about How to avoid the Flu. Thanks Geoff.

Eat right. Make sure you get your daily dose of fruit and vegetables.

Take your vitamins and bump up your Vitamin C.

Get plenty of exercise because it builds your immune system.

Walk for at least an hour a day. Go for a swim.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Wash your hands often. If you can't, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air. Open doors and windows whenever possible.

Try to eliminate as much stress in your life as you can. Get plenty of rest.

OR

Take the doctor's approach. Think about it . . . .

When you go for a flu jab, what do they do first?

They clean your arm with alcohol . . . Why? Because Alcolhol KILLS GERMS.

So. . . . . .

I walk to the pub. (Exercise)

I put lime in my vodka . . . (Fruit.)

Celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies)

Drink outdoors on the patio . . .(fresh air)

Tell rude jokes and laugh . . . (eliminate stress)

Then I pass out. (rest)

The way I see it . . . If you keep your alcohol levels up, Flu Germe Can't Get You!!

Signs Seen in Front of Churches.

"Looking for a sign from God? This is it."

"No God --No Peace. Know God-- Know Peace."

"Have trouble sleeping? We have sermons -- come hear one."

"Come in and pray today. Beat the Christmas rush."

"When down in the mouth, remember Jonah. He came out all right."

"If you can't sleep, don't count sheep. Talk to the Shepherd."

"In the dark? Follow the Son."

"This is a ch - -ch. What is missing?"

"If you're headed in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns."

"Do not wait for the hearse to take you to church."

"Forbidden fruit creates many jams."
<><>

After a club booking in the Midlands I had a few jars and then decided to look for some
decent digs. As it happened, due to the late hour, I could only find one boarding house
with a vacant sign. Pushing the door open and feeling rather tired I walked in.

"I've only got one room left," said the man behind the desk, "and you'll have to share
with another bloke, but . . . . ." "But what?" I asked.
"Watch his snoring," I was warned, "We've had complaints."

Reluctantly I took the room and the morning after I was met on the stairs by the desk
clerk. "How did you get on last night?" he wanted to know.

"Smashing," I told him. "Before I turned in last night I leaned across and kissed him and
he stayed awake all night."

A few quotes for you, to finnish as I am getting too sleepy.

Your children need your presence more than your presents. ~~Jesse Jackson.

Youth is that period when a young boy knows everything but how to make a living.
~ ~ ~ Carey Williams.

No one understands anyone 18, including those who are 18.. ~~ Jim Bishop.

Learn as much by writing as by reading. ~ ~ ~ LOrd Acton.

Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who
do.~ ~ ~ Isaac Asimo.

Time sure does go by in a hurry Enjoy your lives and take care of yourselves and each other.
My love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

I like Geoff's advice Merle and that Indian Hug is lovely.

Do you know that your weather has been warmer than mine today and it's summer here. I'm not complaining as it's warm enough for me.

Night night.

I really liked the church signs. One time we were in a tiny town on vacation and passed a country church. As we were coming up to it, I could see they had a sign and was curious what it might say. I had to laugh at just how small a town it must be, when I saw written on the sign, "The sign lady is on vacation!" The one that says ch--ch unfortunately reminds me of the sign my in-laws had on their pool when I first started dating their son. It said "Welcome to our ool. Notice there is no "p" in it. Please keep it that way." It was to the point, I guess, lol.

Good evening Merle, love the Indian Hug poem, and the remedy for the flu. But since I don't drink, and the few beers I have tried in the past, can't usually get past one, I guess I wouldn't make a good drinker. Now chocolate candy, that is another matter all together. LOL I changed sheets on Abe's bed yesterday, along with the long and short tube on the machine he uses at night to breath and sleep better.

Yesterday was a really busy day, also mowed the back yard, and helped Abe do some repairs on the shed in the back yard. That repair work almost did us both in. We had asked a person if they could do it and they said they would, but it's been three weeks, and Abe got tired of waiting. Personally I think he could have waited, the person wasn't going to charge us except for the supplies to do the repair work. But it's 80% done now, so he's happy once again. Today I should have done some more laundry, but didn't do much of anything except take it easy and recuperate from yesterday. LOL

Sounds like you were able to get some clothes dried outside yourself. Have a nice evening and sleep well. Your blogging buddy, Patty

Geoff sent along some really good tips. There a few that I had never thought of.

The weather sounds delightful. We've been in the 90s lately, but today was a refreshing 79 because of the rain. The only problem is the humidity...it makes it very uncomfortable.

Hi Merle, these are nice once more. Has Geoff ever had the flu?

I am glad I don't know everything, I would hate to bore people. :-)
(Unless that is what I am trying to do.)
Cheers,
..

Hi Merle,

I loved all the quotes, as I always enjoy reading quotes.

The weather here today sounds about the same as yours. We have temps in the low 70s. I love it, I have all the windows open, I love the fresh air flowing through the house.

Have a nice week and take care. Ann

It seems we have -kind of- switched weather. I believe last time I posted, it was 104 there and snowing where I'm was. Currently, it's around 100 here and much cooler there. Hope all is well. Enjoy the fresh sheets. =)

Hi Merle. Those signs outside churches were clever. Wonder how many actually act upon them? Not me, that's for sure!

I had rather an eventful trip up north, which is now on my blog. Poor Peter, had a bit of gout so couldn't open the bottle of red I took him, so I told him to put it away until he could drink it. He was most helpful to me, too. Thank heavens I knew someone there.

Take care and don't do too much tomorrow. Hugs.

Hi Merle, I am way behind catching up on reading my friend's blogs. Doesn't life seem so much busier once you start getting slower!

Good jokes again Merle.
It has been pretty warm here so I'm not doing much outside, just lazing around in the house with my pups, TV and computer.
My daughter and her son are on their way over for a visit. That will sure be nice.
If I feel like it I'll be making some Apricot-Pineapple jam this evening. I already made the strawberry and raspberry freezer jams and Still have the apriot to do and maybe blackberry too one of these days. That should take care of the jam needs around here for a long-long time since I don't use much of the stuff.
Take care dear friend and don't work too hard.
