Post 652 ~ ~ ~ Wednesday, 30th December, 2009.
Hello all my Friends ~~ It is nice to be back with you and I hope
you all had a great Christmas, and are gearing up now for New Year.
I apologize for the small print, but blogger has not given me the
choice today. Only half the symbols are showing, and don't even
think about photos. I have tried three times to put photos on, but
all I get is jumbled text and I don't know how to change that into
photos. So with some luck, another day I will post photos.
My four year blogaversary was 28th December, so I am into my 5th
year. I enjoy it and have met some wonderful friends through it
who mean a great deal to me.
I had a wonderful week at my daughter, Kathy's home and all five of
her family were home, so we all had a great time and Santa was very
generous to us all. No complaints from anyone.
Kathy cooked some beautiful meals for all of us, including Christmas
Day dinner and we all enjoyed that one. She had made Pavlova and
wine trifle for dessert.. No one was hungry after all of that.
The girls went horseback riding and there were two mares with foals
which my grandson drove me down to see. Baby animals are so cute.
Some of the family went fishing and canoeing etc, always plenty to
do there. Kate took her puppy for her first swim. She lives in
Geelong, the second largest city to Melbourne in Victoria, where
she works and does University courses.
My grandson Joh and his girlfriend brought me home as they live just
over the border in New South Wales in Deniliquin about an hour and a
half north of Shepparton.
There has been bad fires in Western Australia with at least 40 homes
destroyed, but, Thank God, no lives lost to date. So far, nothing too
serious in Victoria. A few smallish fires that are under control.
A big Thank You to everyone who sent Christmas wishes, cards, e mails
etc. I appreciated them all and wish only the very best to everyone
for the New Year in 2010. I hope it is a happy, healthy and prosperous
Year for all of us.
Now to find some jokes - - sorry no color ink choice offered.
My dear friend Linda sent this one. Thanks, Linda,
This happened a while ago in Dublin, and even though it sounds
like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's true.
John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the
road hitch-hiking on a very dark night in the midst of a big storm.
The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong,
he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car
slowly coming towards him and stopped.
John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into
the car and closed the door . . . .only to realize there was nobody
behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on.
The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw
a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life.
Then just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared out of nowhere
through the window, and turned the wheel. John, paralyzed with terror,
watched as the hand came through the window, but it never touched or
harmed him.
Shortly thereafter, John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road,
so gathering strength, he jumped out of the car and ran to it.
Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody
about the horrible experience he had just had.
A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying. . .
and wasn't drunk.
Suddenly the door opened and two other people walked in from the dark
and stormy night. They, like John, were also soaked and out of breath.
Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said
to the other. . . .
"Look Paddy, . . . there's that bl***y idiot that got in the car while
we were pushing it!!!"

One that my friend Lorraine sent to her Intelligent Friends . . . . .
I am only sending this to my smart friends. I could not figure it out
and had to look at the answer. See if you can see what these words have
in common.
1 Banana
2 Dresser
3 Grammar
4 Potato
5 Revive
6 Uneven
7 Assess
Are you peeking or have you already given up?
Give it another try. Look at each word carefully.
You'll kick yourself when you discover the answer.
This is Cool.

Answer:
In all the words listed, if you take the first letter, place it at the
end of the word, and then spell the word backwards, it will be the same
word. Did you figure it out? No? Then send it to more people and
stump them as well. Then you'll feel better too.

One from my good friend Patty . . . .
A young Chinese couple gets married. She's a virgin. Truth be told, he
is a virgin too, but she doesn't know that.
On their wedding night, she cowers naked under the sheets as her
husband undresses in the darkness.
He climbs into bed beside her and tries to be reassuring."My darring"
he whispers, "I know dis you firss time and you berry frighten.
I promise you, I give you anyting you want, I do anyting - juss anyting
you want. You juss ask. Whatchu want?" he says, trying to sound
experienced and worldly, which he hopes will impress her.
A thoughtful silence follows and he waits patiently (and eagerly) for
her request.
She eventually shyly whispers back, "I want to try something I have
hear about from odda girls . . . Number 69."
More thoughtful silence, this time from him. Eventually, in a puzzled
tone he asks her . . .
"You want . . . . Garlic Chicken wif snow peas?"

Cannibal Challenge.
Three men were walking through the jungle when they were captured
by cannibals. The cannibals thought they would be fair and give the
men each one chance to be let free. They were released into the jungle
to pick three of one type of fruit and come back to see the chief and
he would tell them what to do.
The first man got three apples. The chief said, "Okay, you must swallow
all three of these apples without gagging or chewing." The man got the
first one stuck in his throat, gagged and died.
The second man came in with berries. The chief gave him the same task.
The second man swallowed two with ease, gagged on the third and died.
Now these two men were up in heaven. The first man asked the second,
"Why did you gag? You had berries. You could have lived."
The second guy replied, " Yeah, but I almost laughed when I saw the
third man coming with pineapples."

This one from my friend Nick of the Sometimes Saintly Kind is not a
joke, but is a really great one.
THIS IS PRETTY NEAT. 93% won't forward.
A small request. Just one line.
Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer. Amen.
93% won't forward this. Will You?
Always remember . . "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND."
May Peace prevail.
"We look to the day when sharing by all will mean scarcity for none."
<><>
Well, it is time for me to close. I hope you could wade through
all that. Small, boring print etc. Hope for better luck next time.
Look after your friends and loved ones and yourselves.
My love and best wishes to you all.See you next year. Cheers, Merle.
