Parent's Poem.

Post 678 ~ ~ ~ Wednesday, 28th April, 2010.

Hello again my friends, ~~ I hope that all is well with you and your loved
ones and that life is good for you. I am doing OK, managing my pain with
just Panadol-Osteo and just playing the waiting game with the aneurysm.

I went on my usual shopping trip yesterday and got stocked up again,
and even cooked a microwave chicken. Today I did the roast vegetables
beans and pieces of corn and fried tomatoes. Meals look good, so I hope
to enjoy one tomorrow. I desperately want my hair cut, just haven't
been able to get there. I hope to get it done in the next day or so.

Tonight's "Parent's Poem" came from Mountain Wings that I subscribe to.
I hope you enjoy it.

Mothers, touch your children,
Fathers, hug them tight,
Let them know you love them
morning, noon and night.

Put your arms around them,
hold them near to you,
Feel the beating of their hearts
the life that you made new.

Roll around the floor with them,
tease and laugh and play,
Listen to what they'll tell you,
they have so much to say.

Take time to get to know them,
see the colors in their eyes,
Appreciate that person
that deep inside them lies.

Let them run their fingers through your hair
and down your face,
Fill their hearts with words of praise,
make home their favorite place.

Cuddle with them on the couch
and watch a TV show,
Sing with them or share a book
and help their world to grow.

Take a walk into the park,
hold each other's hand,
Smell the flowers, feed the ducks,
build castles in the sand.

Mothers, touch your children,
Fathers, hug them tight,
Show them what a gift they are,
to love them feels so right. Author ~~ Kathie Davis.

My cousin David sent me the next item. Thanks David.

A Birth Certificate shows that you were born.
A Death Certificate shows that we died.
Pictures show that we lived.
Have a seat, Relax and read this slowly.

I believe . . .
That just because two people argue,
It doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue
It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe . . .
That we don't have to change friends if
We understand that friends change.

I Believe . . .
That no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe . . .
That true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe . . .
That you can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.

I Believe . . .
That it's taking me a long time
To b
ecome the person I want to be.

I Believe . . .
That you should always leave loved ones with
Loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe . . .
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe . . .
That we are responsible for what
We do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe . . .
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe . . .
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs
to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe . . .
my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe . . .
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe . . .
That sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
But that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe . . .
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
And what you learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays
you've celebrated.

I Believe . . .
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe . . .
That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world
doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe . . .
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who
we are. But we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe . . .
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who
don't even know you.

I Believe . . .
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret.
It could change your life forever.

I Believe . . .
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something
totally different.

I Believe . . .
That even when you think you have no more to give,
When a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I Believe . . .
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe . . .
That the people you care most about in life are taken
from you too soon.

I Believe . . .
That you should send this to all the people you believe in. I just did.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything they have.

My good friend Patty sent me this joke. Thanks Patty.

An Iraqi terrorist was lying on the side of the road, badly injured and
On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine, in a
similar but less serious state.

The Marine was conscious and alert, and as first aid was given to both
men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.

The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along the
highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We
saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road.

"I yelled at him, Saddam Hussein is a miserable, lowlife scum bag who
got what he deserved. He yelled back, Barack Obama is a lying, good-
for-nothing left wing Commi who isn't even American.

"I said, Obama Bin Laden dresses and acts like a frigid, mean-spirited
He retaliated by yelling, Oh yeah? Well so does Nancy Pelosil.

"And there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands,
when a truck hit us."

One from my friend Linda L. Thanks Linda.

Boy, I'm Rich !!

Silver in the Hair
Gold in the Teeth.
Stones in the Kidneys
Sugar in the Blood
Lead in the Feet.
Iron in the Arteries.
And an inexhaustible supply of Natural Gas.

I never thought I would accumulate such wealth.

My good friend Jim sent me "Where to meet for lunch" Thank you.

A group of 40 year old girlfriends discussed where they should meet
for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at The Ocean View
restaurant because the waiters there had tight pants and nice buns.

10 years later, at age 50 the friends once again discussed where they
should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at the
Ocean View restaurant because the food was good and the wine
selection was great.

10 years later at age 60, the friends again discussed where they should
meet for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at the
Ocean View restaurant because they could dine in peace and quiet and
the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean.

10 years later at age of 70, the friends discussed where they should meet
for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because the restaurant was wheel chair accessible and had
an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the friends again discussed where they
should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at the
Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.

Last joke tonight again from my good friend Linda L. Thank you.

The best ideas are the simple ones . . . . . .

The Airport Solution . . . .
Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at
the airports.

Have a booth that you can step into that will not X- ray you, but
will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

It would be a win-win for everyone, there would be none of the
hassle about racial profiling and this method would eliminate
a long and expensive trial. Justice would be quick and swift.
Case closed.

This is so simple, it is brilliant. I can see it now: you are in the
airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly
thereafter an announcement comes over the P A system,
"Attention, standby passengers we now have a seat available on
Flight number ......"
Works for me!!!
A Mark Twain Quote for an Engagement. . . . .

These I Can Promise.
I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;
I cannot promise riches, wealth or gold;
I cannot promise you an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old.

But I can promise all my heart's devotion;
A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
A love that's ever true and ever growing;
A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

Time to get to bed now. I hope you found something of interest
among this lot. Take great care and enjoy your lives.
My love and best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

Ya know Merle, that's not a half bad idea about airport security!! Too funny! You make me laugh friend. I'm so happy that you are getting some relief from your pain. As always, you have been on my thoughts daily. Hugs and thanks for the chuckles!

You made me hungry, your food sounds good, yum. That Parent's Poem is right on the money, touching, loving them and interact with them is the key. Yes Merle I Believe, very good and true. Tell Jim that I enjoyed the Ocean View restaurant, it was great. The airport one is such a good idea. Good post as usual, take care and have a nice week.

You have some wonderful things here to day Merle. I especially like The Parents Poem and I Believe.

I'm so glad you're doing fine and that all of your tests are over now. I'm sure it's a weight off your shoulders to be done with doctors for a while...that's how I always feel about that stuff. Hope you get a chance to get your haircut sweetie...they always make you feel refreshed. Have a very good weekend coming up my dear friend. Lots of love to you... ~Joy

Are those fried green tomatoes you made? They're a delicacy over here.

Hea, I hear one of our balloons caused some trouble over there. Maybe you heard about it too.

Regarding the parents' poem, it reminds me of when we took our three-year-old son over to the park to feed the ducks. As he was trying to give some lettuce to a flock of ducks, a big old goose came over and attacked him. Knocked him down and bit him on the belly. Poor kid.

Good selection of jokes there, Merle! I can relate to the inexhaustible supply of Natural Gas...
regarding getting your hair cut - is there a 'mobile' hairdresser in Shepparton? They are an excellent service for housebound people. My hairdresser goes to some of her elderly clients at their homes, as well as having clients in her own home.

Hi Merle. For several years I gave my own hair cuts. I had been getting them done at the college beauty school and learned along witht he kids. My only problem is that it takes me so long and I don't have a nice ride through the hills going to my "Upper Cuts" friends nor the nice visit we all have there.

Your "I Believe" is the best! I can't even pick a favorite, they are all so good.

Cheers, :)

Great post as usual.

I do believe...

On our recent trip, Maryann had to go through the screening. It was a lot easier than the pat down. With two metal hips she sets off the metal detector every time. She is getting used to it now.

I reckon I'm getting richer every day, too. snicker.

Loved the luncheon ladies. chuckle.
