Generation Y.

Post 723 ~ ~ ~ Friday, 4th February, 2011.

Hello my Friends ~~ After another week of cyclones and damage
to North Queensland - with entire towns damaged and ruined.
We are expecting severe rainfall and winds on the back end of
Cyclone Yasi. I hope that things are better where you are, but
I hear the snow is very severe this year. We cannot do much
about either the heat, storms or the snow. Just have to take
what we get don't we? I hope all is well in your lives apart from
weather problems.

I saw a specialist yesterday who is happy to leave the kidney
stones alone, but ordered an ultra scan of the kidneys as there
is a cyst in one, which is quite common apparently. I had that
done today so far, all is well.

First joke today has the answer before the question - oh well
Thanks to my good friend, Lady Di. for this one.

The Silent Generation are people born before 1946.

The Baby Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1959.

Generation X
are people born between 1960 and 1979.

Generation Y
are people born between 1980 and now.

Why do we call the last one generation Y?
I did not know, but a cartoonist explains it eloquently below...

Learned something new today.
Now, make someone else laugh. Have a great day!
The secret to happiness is a good sense of humor and a bad memory.

One from my dear friend Patricia Lincoln. Is sex work???

A U.S. Marine Colonel was about to start the morning briefing to his staff.

waiting for the coffee machine to finish it's brewing. The colonel decided

to pose a question to all assembled.

He explained that his wife had been a bit frisky the night before and he

failed to get his usual amount of sound sleep. He posed the question of

just how much of sex was "work" and how much was "pleasure"? A Major

chimed in with 75-25% in favor of work.

A Captain said it was 50/50%. A lieutenant responded with 25/75 in favor

of pleasure, depending upon his state of inebriation at the time.

There being no consensus, the colonel turned to the PFC who was in

charge of making the coffee. What was HIS opinion.

Without any hesitation, the young PFC responded, "Sir , it has to be 100%

pleasure."

The colonel was surprised and as you might guess, asked why?

"Well, sir, if there was any work involved, the officers would have me

doing it for them."

The room fell silent.

God bless the enlisted man.

One from my U.K. friend Biker Bob - all about Penguins. Thanks.

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins in the

Antarctic - where do they go. Wonder no more.

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives

an extremely and complex and ordered life

The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well

as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring for life.

If a penguin in found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family

and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their

vestigal wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird

to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle

around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

You really didn't believe that I knew anything about penguins, did you?

<><>

One from Mountain Winga called The Golfer and the Caddy.

Golfer: "I think I'm going to drown myself in the lake."

Caddy: "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

Golfer: "Do you think my game is improving?"

Caddy: "Yes sir, you miss the ball much closer now."

Golfer: "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course.

Caddy: "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

Golfer: "Do you think I can get there with a 5iron?"

Caddy: "Eventually."

Golfer: "You've got to be the worst caddy in the world."

Caddy: "I don't think so ma'am. That would be too much of a coincidence."

Golfer: "Please stop checking your watch all the time - it's distracting."

Caddy: " It's not a watch - it's a compass."

Golfer: "How do you like my game?"

Caddy: "Very good ma'am, but personally I prefer golf."

Golfer: "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?"

Caddy: "The way you play, Ma'am, it's a sin on any day."

Golfer: "This is the worst course I've ever played on."

Caddy: "This isn't the course. We left that an hour ago."

Golfer: "That can't be my ball, it's too old."

Caddy: "It's been a long time since we teed off, Ma'am."

<><>

Well , my friends the really heavy rain is pouring down with thunder and

lightning, so I had better say goodnight for now. Turn off my computer

as I don't want to do another router. It is a bit scary out there, but it

is nothing to what Queensland has been having. Take care of yourselves

and each other. Love and Best wishes to you all. Cheers, Merle.

I saw that Y and thought it was showing... something it wasn't showing (without being rude).

I'm glad that nasty cyclone has gone. Bloody hell what next? Hopefully peace, prosperity and happeinss for all Down Under you certainly deserve it.

Take care :-)

Hope the scan of your kidneys doesn't show any nasty surprises, Merle. Ken is seeing the heart surgeon on Monday, so he'll know more about what is ahead of him then.
Have you had any more flooding tonight? We're copping it down here as I type (just after midnight) and a friend who lives in Box Hill phoned earlier to say Middleborough Road and Maroondah Highway were flooded at their end, with traffic being diverted. What happened to that drought we were all complaining about??

Loved the jokes...just wish I had my Don still to tell them too! He appreciated a good joke!

So regret the devastation and loss that's occurring in your country...so much worse than the snow here...which is bad enough!

Hoping for a good report from your kidney scan.

Be safe!

Perfect explanation of the generation Y group.

We are under 24 inches of snow in Oklahoma setting a record in our history with more predicted.

Have been hearing about your cyclones and hope you are okay.

My older son is certainly Generation Y as he often resembles the cartoon there. Wondered how close that cyclone was coming to you; sounds like close enough. We're used to snow here in Michigan but my back is sore from all the shoveling.

I see you posted this on February 4th. That's my dad's birthday. He's 81. Those were good jokes--I always like golfing jokes.

Generation Y...that cartoon "cracked" me up! ;-)

I'm glad you are doing well, sweet Merle.

Love you

Dear Merle, Glad the news is good about the kidney. I don't know why they would want to bother removing the stone if it isn't bothering you or blocking anything. Glad to know they are just leaving it alone. I've heard little tumors and cyst are often found in the kidney and a lot of people do seem to have them.

Sorry there has been so much rain your way. We have it to, except outs is in the form of ice and or snow. More to hit again about Tuesday. Had to cancel my mammogram last Wed. but was able to get there on Friday. Should have the results by Monday or Tuesday. Still working at trying to get my thyroid down. The doctor decreased my medication, but said it will take about a month. Right now all it is doing is making me real anxious and jittery (is that a work) LOL.

Had a quiet week-end. Daughter was in class from 8am till 4:30, BUT it started with bad weather and the teacher let them leave at lunch time. So it was good when she got home. Today the cable guy came out and replaced the box on Abe's TV. He has HD and digital and needs a box for it to work properly. So he's a happy camper again. First they told us they couldn't make it until Monday, late afternoon, this upset him, since he wanted to see the Super Bowl game. Myself I don't watch it. so we were able to hook the cable direct into his set, it's just he didn't get all of the channels he normally does. My st I have just the standard package, I figure 70 some channels is enough for me. Abe gets a lot more, not even sure how many he gets and the HD is beautiful. But I still like the TV I have. LOL You get use to using something and as long as it works, at least for me, I figure why mess with it and change it.

Well have a great evening, sleep well, and stay in doors with all the rain, thunder and lightning. Hope the storms don't cause a lot of damage. Your friend in Ohio, Patty

Glad the scan went well Merle...and I know you're glad to leave whatever kidney stones you've got just where they are...as long as you're comfortable.

The weather EVERYWHERE is just crazy...we're ALL dealing with something. Take care sweetie...stay well... ~Joy xo

{{{Merle}}}!!! I was just elated to have you stop by for a visit with me. You made me smile from ear to ear. Long time, no see. Apparently, your sense of humor [that I deeply love] is still with you no matter the weather for your country! You have the best outlook on life, and you are an inspiration to us all.

Take care of yourself, and hope the kidney stones will disappear on their own. You're in my thoughts. And before I forget and sign out, I also want to thank you for my birthday wishes!! You're a doll!!

Hope this scan goes well Merle. Laughed out loud at the sailor joke and the baggy trousers- what is with that?
Seems to have been a bad year for storms worldwide- lots of unusual weather.
My younger sister lives in Queensland so l've been keeping in touch.
Take care xx

Hi Merle, I hope you are managing to miss the worst of the bad weather. The weather here has been very good since Christmas so no problems for us. Take care.

I bet it is very scary to be in a cyclone with high winds. I bet you are happy about the kidney stone. It is disgusting when I see those baggy pants down. Very good post and funny. Have a nice week.
