Merle's last goodbye.

Hello to all of Merle's friends, its Peter here and I'm afraid that I am the bearer of some very bad news, my dear sister Merle passed away today, quite suddenly but fortunately peacefully.
During my last conversation with her Merle told me that she had had enough and was just waiting to die, while this surprised me at the time I now see that having made peace with those of us she cared most about she simply shut down her resistance and allowed the inevitable to happen.
We are hoping for one last miracle, that is that her funeral can be arranged for Tuesday 11th February so that I can attend before my surgery booked for Thursday 13th February, to those who may not know about this, its the reversal of my colonoscopy after my encounter with bowel cancer last year.
To any of you who followed her blog and/or facebook please know that you enriched her life with the joy she got from her "internet friends" we had many discussions about how deeply we both felt about  those "friends" we had never met and in most cases never expected to meet.
The world is a much better place because Merle spent time in it, not enough time , but then I guess that always applies.
Thank you for the pleasure you gave to Merle.
Rest In Peace.

Peter.

She gave us so much more with her grand sense of humor. It was obvious that she put a lot of effort into finding things that would delight us. We have been missing Merle and hoping she would return. Thank you Peter for letting us know that this was what she wanted and was ready to go. God Bless you and all the family.

You are right Peter, the world was a better place for having her in it. In the 50 odd years that I knew her, I never heard her say an unkind thing about anyone. She will be sorely missed.
May she rest in peace.

Goodbye for now, my precious friend! I know we will meet again but until then, I shall remember all the lovely conversations we shared via email and on our blogs. Your sense of humor and your love helped me through some tough days and you always inspired me to not let anything interfere with my happiness. You were much more than a friend, you were and always will be a sister of my heart. I love you with my whole heart and soul. My heart goes out to all your family and to all who loved you. May they be comforted and feel your love. Rest in peace, Dear Merle and may your soul soar now that you are free from your body that no longer let you do what you wanted to do. I shall never forget you and you will always be in my heart. Thank you for being such a treasure and positive influence in my life. All my love, Karen

Merle was a dear friend to all who knew her I can tell. Just as she was a dear blogging friend to all of us with whom she blogged. I would have loved to have met her in person.
I am sorry too that she missed OBE by three months.

Sincere condolences to Merle's family, belated as they are. I don't blog or visit blogs as much as I used to but I always checked in here and with Peter to keep up with news. I just saw this today.

What I remember Merle best for is not just for her sense of humor but her marvelous caring attitude. She was the only blogging buddy who now only remembered my birthday, but my wife's as well. And my wife doesn't even blog.

From the sounds of it, she had a good life and a good family. Still, we'll miss her.

I always loved to drop by to see what Merle was posting. She always made me smile. Haven't been blogging much in the last year so I've been late finding your sad news.

I'll miss her cheerful posts but glad to know she is at peace. Like many I would have loved to meet Merle she seemed such a treasure. She was a delight to "know".

I hope your surgery went well & you got the funeral arranged.

Rest in Peace Merle. Good night & God Bless

Winifred

I am sad to drop by here and find Merle has now gone. I loved her and felt close to her when I was blogging regularly. She really was something special wasn't she. I am sure she is watching over us still.Of all my old blogger friends she was the one I longed to meet in real life, but never did. Oh well, one day I am sure we will meet again. Bye Merlie girl <3

Dear Peter,
I'm so sorry that I didn't know about Merle's passing. I stopped writing for a lot of reasons, one of them being my own health, and when I started again found out about Merle. I had so enjoyed her blog and her jokes! May she rest in peace and I hope you too find consolation in that she matters to all of us. I'm from a country far away in the tropics but I found a friend so similar in tastes and inclination. Once again my condolences.
